Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a carpenter in Villa-Carcina is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window on Via Roma. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, I hit up the local lumber yard. You know, the one on Via Garibaldi? Yeah, that place. I’m lookin’ for some oak for a custom job. I walk in, and it’s like a scene from a horror movie. The guy behind the counter, let’s call him “Grumpy Gus,” is havin’ a meltdown. He’s yellin’ about some shipment that went missing. I’m like, “Dude, chill. It’s just wood.” But nah, he’s throwin’ boards around like they’re frisbees. I’m dodgin’ splinters like I’m in the Matrix. Finally, I grab my stuff and head out. I’m feelin’ good, right? But then, I step outside, and it’s like the weather’s playin’ tricks on me. One minute, it’s sunny, and the next, BAM! Rain. I’m sprintin’ down Via Mazzini, clutchin’ my wood like it’s a life raft. I’m soaked, but I can’t help but laugh. I mean, who needs a shower when you’ve got Villa-Carcina’s finest downpour? So, I get to the job site, this cute little house on Via della Libertà. The owner, Maria, is super nice. She’s got this adorable dog, a little mutt named Pino. Pino’s just chillin’, waggin’ his tail, and I’m like, “You’re the only one havin’ a good day, buddy.” I start workin’, and everything’s goin’ smooth. I’m cuttin’ and hammerin’, feelin’ like a rockstar. But then, I realize I forgot my drill. Ugh! I’m cursing under my breath. I mean, who forgets their drill? So, I gotta run back to my van parked on Via Roma. On the way back, I bump into my buddy Luca. He’s always got some wild story. Today, he’s tellin’ me about this time he tried to fix his roof and ended up on the neighbor’s balcony. I’m laughin’ so hard, I almost trip over a cobblestone. Classic Luca. Finally, I get back to the site, drill in hand. But guess what? Pino’s gone! I’m freakin’ out. I’m callin’ his name, “Pino! Pino!” I’m thinkin’, “Great, now I’m gonna be the guy who lost the dog.” But then, I hear this bark. I look over, and there’s Pino, chasin’ a cat down Via della Libertà. I’m like, “Dude, you’re supposed to be my helper!” After that little adventure, I finish up the job. Maria’s thrilled, and I’m feelin’ like a champ. She even offers me some homemade pasta. I mean, who can say no to that? We’re sittin’ there, eatin’ and laughin’, and I forget all about the craziness of the day. But then, as I’m leavin’, I step in a puddle. Of course, it’s the biggest puddle ever. My boots are soaked again. I’m just standin’ there, laughin’ at myself. “What a day, huh?” I think. As I walk back home, I can’t help but smile. Villa-Carcina, with its narrow streets and quirky charm, always keeps me on my toes. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in the life of a carpenter. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
