Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a parachutist firefighter in Villa-di-Serio is like riding a rollercoaster that’s on fire. Seriously, I woke up this morning, and the sun was shining over Via Roma, all bright and cheery. I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. So, I’m at the station, right? Just sippin’ my espresso, trying to wake up. Then, boom! The alarm goes off. My heart’s racing faster than a Vespa on Via Garibaldi. We got a call about a fire near the old church on Piazza della Libertà. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” We gear up, and I’m feelin’ all pumped. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna jump outta a plane? But then I remember my last jump. Landed right in a tree. Not my finest moment. Anyway, we hop in the chopper, and I’m lookin’ down at Villa-di-Serio. It’s beautiful, man! The hills, the houses, the little streets like Via dei Fiori. But I can’t enjoy it. Not now. We get to the site, and it’s chaos. Flames everywhere! I’m thinkin’, “This is gonna be a wild ride.” I jump out, and the wind hits me like a freight train. I’m free-falling, and all I can see is smoke and fire. My heart’s pounding. I hit the ground, roll, and boom! I’m in action mode. I grab my gear and run towards the fire. The heat is insane! I’m sweating like a pig. And then I see it—an old lady, Mrs. Rossi, standing there, looking all frazzled. She’s yelling, “My cat! My cat is inside!” I’m like, “Lady, I’ll get your cat, but you gotta move!” So, I dash into the house. It’s smoky, and I can barely see. I’m coughing, but I’m not gonna let a little smoke stop me. I find the cat—thank goodness! It’s just chillin’ on the couch, like, “What’s all the fuss about?” I scoop it up, and I’m outta there. Mrs. Rossi is crying tears of joy. I’m feelin’ like a hero, ya know? But then, outta nowhere, I hear a loud crash. I turn, and a wall is coming down! I dive to the side, barely missing it. My heart’s racing again. I’m like, “What the heck?!” This day is just full of surprises. After we finally get the fire under control, I’m exhausted. I sit down on the curb on Via della Repubblica, and I’m just breathing. The adrenaline is still pumping. I can’t believe I saved that cat. I mean, who knew I’d be a cat hero today? But then, I see a bunch of kids playing soccer nearby. They’re laughing and having a blast. It hits me—this is why I do this job. To protect this place, these people. Villa-di-Serio is my home, and I love it. Even if it’s a bit crazy sometimes. As the sun sets, I’m heading back to the station. I’m covered in soot, my heart’s still racing, but I can’t help but smile. Today was wild, emotional, and a bit ridiculous. Just another day in the life of a parachutist firefighter in Villa-di-Serio. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
