Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an abrasive blaster in Villaricca is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the road down Via Roma. Traffic was a nightmare! Like, come on, people! It’s not a parking lot! I’m sittin’ there, honking my horn, and this dude on a scooter zooms past me like he’s in a race. I’m like, “Bro, chill! You’re not in the Tour de France!” Finally, I get to the job site. It’s on Via Napoli, and let me tell ya, the view is sick. You can see the whole city from up there. But then, I see my crew. They’re all standing around, lookin’ like they just woke up from a nap. I’m like, “C’mon, guys! We got work to do!” So, we start blasting away. I’m in my zone, right? The grit flying everywhere, the sound of the blaster is music to my ears. But then, outta nowhere, my buddy Marco trips over a hose. I swear, it was like watching a slow-motion movie. He goes down, and I’m like, “Dude, you okay?” He’s just lying there, covered in dust, looking like a sad ghost. After that, we take a break. I grab a slice of pizza from this little joint on Via San Rocco. Best pizza ever! I mean, it’s like they sprinkle magic on it or something. I’m munching away, and this old lady walks by. She stops and gives me the dirtiest look. I’m like, “Lady, I’m just trying to enjoy my lunch!” Then, the skies open up. Outta nowhere, it starts pouring! I’m talking torrential downpour. We scramble to cover the equipment, and I’m soaked. I’m standing there, drenched, and I can’t help but laugh. Like, really? This is how my day’s gonna go? But wait, it gets better. We’re packing up, and I see this little kid on the street. He’s trying to fly a kite, but it’s all tangled up. I walk over, and I’m like, “Need some help, champ?” We spend a good 15 minutes untangling that thing. Finally, it’s flying high, and the kid’s face lights up. That made my day, man. So, we finish up, and I’m heading home down Via Giuseppe Mazzini. I’m exhausted but happy. I think about how crazy today was. I mean, one minute I’m blasting away, the next I’m a kite doctor. As I pull into my driveway, I see my neighbor, old Mr. Rossi. He’s out there watering his plants, looking all serious. I shout, “Hey, Mr. Rossi! You should try kite flying!” He just shakes his head, probably thinking I’m nuts. And that’s Villaricca for ya. One minute you’re working hard, the next you’re helping a kid fly a kite in the rain. It’s wild, it’s messy, but it’s home. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
