Man, what a day! I swear, being a librarian in Vittoria is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m walking down Via Cavour, and I trip over a cobblestone. Classic me. I’m like, “Great start, genius.” But whatever, I brush it off. I get to the library, and it’s packed. I mean, who knew people actually read? I’m thinking, “Did I miss a memo about a book club or something?” Then, this kid—probably 10 or 11—runs in, all wild-eyed. He’s like, “I need a book about dinosaurs!” I’m like, “Dude, chill. We got a whole section for that.” But he’s bouncing around like he’s had too much gelato. I help him find a book, and he’s so pumped, it’s like I just handed him a golden ticket. Makes me happy, ya know? But then, BAM! The fire alarm goes off. I’m like, “Seriously? In a library?” Everyone’s looking at me like I’m supposed to do something. I’m not a firefighter! So, we all shuffle out onto Piazza del Popolo. It’s chaos. People are confused, and I’m just standing there, trying to keep my cool. While we’re outside, I spot my buddy Marco from the café across the street. He’s waving like a madman, holding a giant slice of pizza. I’m like, “Dude, save me a piece!” But he just laughs and takes a huge bite. Rude, right? After the fire drill (which turned out to be a false alarm, thank goodness), I head back inside. I’m trying to regain my librarian vibe when this lady storms in. She’s fuming. Apparently, someone took her favorite book. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a library, not a book prison.” But I keep my cool. I help her find another book, and she softens a bit. Then, I get a call from my mom. She’s like, “You need to come home and help me with the garden.” I’m thinking, “Mom, I’m in the middle of a book crisis!” But she’s persistent. I finally agree, but not before I grab a quick espresso at Bar Centrale. Best decision ever. That caffeine hits different, ya know? So, I’m walking home, and I take Via Garibaldi. The sunset is gorgeous, painting the sky in pinks and oranges. I stop for a sec, just to soak it in. Vittoria is beautiful, man. The old buildings, the narrow streets, the vibe. It’s like a postcard. But then, I see this street performer playing the accordion. He’s got a crowd, and they’re all clapping. I’m like, “This is what life’s about!” I toss him a couple of coins and join in the clapping. It’s a moment, ya know? Finally, I get home, and my mom’s waiting with a shovel. I’m like, “Really? After all that?” But I can’t help but laugh. We end up planting flowers, and it’s surprisingly therapeutic. So, yeah, that was my day in Vittoria. Full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a librarian, right?
