Man, what a day! I swear, Black-River (jm) never fails to surprise me. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring Tuesday. Boy, was I wrong! First off, I hit the road on my bike, zooming down Main St. You know, the one that’s always packed with vendors selling everything from jerk chicken to fresh fruit. I was just thinking about grabbing some of that sweet, sweet mango when BAM! A dog runs outta nowhere. Like, seriously, where did you come from, buddy? Almost took me out! So, I’m dodging this dog, and I’m like, “Chill, bro!” But then I see it’s just a stray. Poor thing looked like it hadn’t eaten in days. My heart melted a bit. I mean, I’m a Clinical Research Specialist, not a vet, but I couldn’t just leave it there. So, I stopped at the corner of Church St. and gave it some of my breakfast. Yeah, I know, I’m a softie. After that, I finally made it to the clinic. The vibe was off, though. You could feel it in the air. Turns out, we had a surprise inspection. Ugh! Just what I needed. I mean, who schedules these things? I swear, it’s like they want to catch us off guard. So, I’m running around, trying to make everything look perfect. I’m sweating bullets, and my mind’s racing. I’m thinking about all the paperwork I didn’t finish. And then, just as I’m about to lose it, my colleague, Lisa, walks in with a coffee. Bless her soul! She’s like, “You good?” I’m like, “No, I’m not good! We’re about to be inspected!” But then, she cracks a joke about how the inspector probably just wants to see if we have snacks. I couldn’t help but laugh. That’s the spirit, right? The inspection was a rollercoaster. One minute, I’m sweating, the next, I’m cracking jokes with the inspector. He was actually chill. We talked about the best spots in Black-River. He loves the riverfront, and I’m like, “Dude, you gotta check out the view from the bridge on Water St. It’s lit!” After the inspection, I needed a breather. So, I hit up the riverfront. Man, the sunset was gorgeous! The sky was all orange and pink, reflecting off the water. I just stood there, soaking it all in. It’s moments like these that make the chaos worth it. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring! Like, seriously? I’m drenched in seconds. I’m laughing, though, because this day just keeps getting better. I run for cover under a little shack on the riverfront. And guess who I see? That stray dog! It found me! We just sat there, both soaked, looking at the rain. I named him “Rainy.” Creative, right? I’m thinking, “This dog’s got better luck than me.” Finally, the rain stops, and I’m like, “Alright, Rainy, let’s get you some food.” We head back to Main St. and I grab some food for both of us. I swear, that dog was living his best life. By the time I got home, I was exhausted but happy. I mean, what a day! From dodging dogs to surprise inspections to bonding with a stray. Black-River, you wild! I flopped on my couch, thinking about how unpredictable life is. But hey, that’s what makes it fun, right? I wouldn’t trade my crazy job or this crazy city for anything. Here’s to more wild days in Black-River!
