Man, today was a wild ride in Ewarton. Like, I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day, you know? But nah, life had other plans. So, I’m rollin’ outta bed, and the sun’s blazin’ through my window on Main St. I’m like, “Great, another hot day.” Ewarton’s known for its heat, but today? It was like the sun was tryin’ to fry me alive. I grab my sketchbook, ready to hit the streets for some inspo. First stop, the market on Church St. I’m strollin’ through, and the smell of fresh ackee and saltfish hits me. I’m droolin’. But then, I see this dude, right? He’s tryin’ to haggle over a ripe mango. Like, c’mon man, it’s a mango, not a diamond! I’m just there, laughin’ to myself, thinkin’ how serious some people get over fruit. Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud crash. I whip around, and it’s a bike collidin’ with a car. My heart drops. But the biker? He hops up like nothing happened! I’m like, “Bro, you just got hit!” But he’s laughin’ it off, sayin’ he’s got “nine lives.” I’m thinkin’, “Dude, you’re not a cat!” After that chaos, I head down to the waterfront. Ewarton’s got this beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea. I sit on a bench, tryin’ to chill, but then this group of kids runs by, playin’ some kinda game. They’re shoutin’ and laughin’, and I can’t help but smile. It’s like their joy is contagious. But then, I see this old man on the corner of Ewarton Rd. He’s sellin’ coconuts, and I’m like, “Yesss, I need that!” I go over, and he’s got this huge grin. I buy one, and as I’m drinkin’ it, I spill some on my shirt. Classic me, right? I’m there, laughin’ at myself, while he’s just shakin’ his head like, “You young folks.” Next, I decide to hit up the local art gallery on High St. I’m feelin’ inspired, ready to soak in some creativity. But when I get there, it’s closed! I’m like, “Are you serious?!” I mean, c’mon, Ewarton, don’t do me like this! I’m standin’ outside, feelin’ all dramatic, like I’m in a movie or somethin’. So, I wander around, and I end up at the park near the Ewarton Community Center. There’s this festival goin’ on, and the vibe is lit! Music’s pumpin’, people are dancin’, and I’m just there, tryin’ to soak it all in. I grab some jerk chicken, and it’s fire! Like, I’m talkin’ about flavor explosions in my mouth. But then, I see this guy spill his drink all over his date. I’m tryin’ not to laugh, but it’s too funny. The poor girl’s face is priceless! I’m thinkin’, “Man, that’s a first date gone wrong.” As the sun starts settin’, I’m feelin’ all kinds of emotions. Ewarton’s got this way of makin’ you feel alive. I’m sittin’ there, watchin’ the sky turn all these crazy colors, and I’m just grateful. Grateful for the chaos, the laughter, the unexpected moments. Finally, I head back home, my mind buzzin’ with ideas for my next texture project. Ewarton, you crazy place, you’ve filled my heart and my sketchbook today. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
