Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I woke up in Akashi, right? The sun was shining, birds chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I had to rush to the office on Kōbe Road. Traffic was a nightmare! Like, why do people forget how to drive? I swear, I almost lost it when some dude cut me off. I mean, c’mon! We’re in Akashi, not a demolition derby! Finally made it to the office, and guess what? My boss, Mr. Tanaka, was in a mood. He’s always in a mood, but today? Extra cranky. He wanted me to prep a report on the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge. Like, dude, I get it, it’s the longest suspension bridge in Japan, but I’m not a walking encyclopedia! So, I’m typing away, and my phone buzzes. It’s my friend Yuki. She’s like, “Let’s grab some Akashi-yaki later!” I’m like, “Heck yes!” Akashi-yaki is life. It’s like takoyaki but with a twist. So fluffy, so good. But first, I gotta survive this workday. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need.” Everyone’s freaking out, running around like headless chickens. I’m just standing there, rolling my eyes. It’s probably just a drill, right? But nope! We had to evacuate. So, we’re all outside on the street, and I’m chatting with some coworkers. I met this guy, Hiro, who’s super into fishing. He starts talking about the Akashi Fish Market. I’m like, “Dude, I know it’s famous, but I’m not about to wake up at 5 AM for fish!” After what felt like an eternity, we finally got the all-clear. Back to the grind. I finish the report, and Mr. Tanaka actually smiles. I’m like, “Is this real life?” But then he drops a bomb. “We need it by EOD.” Ugh, seriously? Finally, the clock strikes 5, and I’m outta there! I meet Yuki at this little spot on Akashi’s Main Street. The smell of Akashi-yaki hits me like a wave. I order a plate, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. I’m so happy, I could cry. We’re laughing, talking about life, and then Yuki mentions the Akashi Castle. I’ve lived here forever, and I still haven’t been! What’s wrong with me? I gotta check it out. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. Like, monsoon-level rain. We dash for cover, laughing like idiots. I’m soaked, but who cares? We’re in Akashi, and it’s a vibe. After the rain, the streets are all shiny and fresh. We decide to walk around, and I’m just soaking in the sights. The Akashi Park is beautiful, especially after the rain. The cherry blossoms are still hanging on, and I’m like, “This is why I love this city.” But then, I trip over my own feet. Classic me. I fall, and Yuki’s dying laughing. I’m like, “Thanks for the support, bestie!” But honestly, it was hilarious. As the day winds down, I’m exhausted but happy. Akashi is full of surprises, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I head home, thinking about all the craziness. Tomorrow’s a new day, and who knows what’ll happen? But for now, I’m just grateful. Grateful for friends, good food, and the wild ride that is life in Akashi. What a day, man. What a day!
