Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Ami is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m hustlin’ down Kōen-dōri, dodging people like I’m in some kinda video game. Seriously, folks in Ami walk like they own the sidewalk. I’m just tryna get to my auction spot at the Ami City Hall. But nah, I get stuck behind this old dude who’s moving slower than molasses. I’m like, “C’mon, grandpa, I got bids to call!” Finally, I make it. The place is packed. I mean, it’s like a concert for antiques. People everywhere, all hyped up. I’m feelin’ the energy, ya know? But then, bam! My mic cuts out. Just dead silence. I’m standin’ there, lookin’ like a deer in headlights. I can hear crickets. Like, really? In the middle of Ami? So, I’m sweating bullets, and I’m thinkin’, “This is it. My career’s over.” But then, I see this cute little kid in the front row. He’s got this giant stuffed bear, and he’s just staring at me. I’m like, “Alright, kid, you’re my backup.” I start auctioning off the bear. “Who wants this bear? It’s got more personality than half the folks here!” The crowd cracks up, and I’m back in the game. Next item up? A vintage samurai sword. I’m pumped. I mean, who doesn’t want a piece of history? I start my spiel, and suddenly, this lady in the back yells, “That’s cursed!” I’m like, “Cursed? Lady, it’s a sword, not a haunted house!” But she’s adamant. Turns out, she’s a local historian. She goes on this wild rant about how it belonged to some famous samurai. I’m just standing there, trying not to laugh. After that, I’m on a roll. I’m calling bids like a madman. “Fifty bucks! Sixty! Seventy! Who’s got eighty?” I’m practically dancing up there. But then, outta nowhere, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, Taro. He’s like, “Dude, you gotta see this!” I’m thinking, “Taro, I’m kinda busy here!” But curiosity gets the best of me. I sneak a peek. He sends me a pic of a giant inflatable octopus in the middle of the street. I’m like, “What the heck, Ami?!” So, I finish up the auction, and I’m feeling like a rockstar. I head out to check out this octopus. Turns out, it’s part of some festival. The streets are packed with food stalls, and the smell of takoyaki is everywhere. I’m drooling. I grab a plate, and it’s like heaven in my mouth. But then, I see it. A street performer juggling fire. I’m like, “This is gonna end badly.” And guess what? It does. One of the torches goes flying, and I’m ducking for cover. I’m laughing and screaming at the same time. Only in Ami, right? As the sun sets, I’m walking down Chūō-dōri, feeling grateful. The city’s alive, and I’m part of it. I think about how crazy today was. From cursed swords to inflatable octopuses, Ami never fails to surprise me. I get home, plop on my couch, and just laugh. What a wild ride. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
