Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I’m an accountant, right? Yeah, I know, boring. But today? Today was anything but boring. I woke up in my tiny apartment on Kiyokawa Street. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and I thought, “Hey, maybe today won’t suck.” Spoiler alert: it did. First off, I’m walking down the street, and I trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Like, come on, Ashoro! Fix your sidewalks! I’m just trying to get to the office on Shimizu Street without breaking my neck. But nooo, I gotta play hopscotch with the pavement. Finally, I get to my office, and my boss, Mr. Tanaka, is already in a mood. He’s pacing like a caged tiger. I’m like, “Dude, chill. It’s just numbers.” But he’s all stressed about the quarterly reports. I mean, who isn’t? But he’s acting like the world’s ending. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off. I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need.” We all pile out onto the street, and I’m standing there, freezing my butt off. It’s not even that cold, but I’m in a t-shirt. Classic me. While we’re outside, I see this cute little café on the corner of Kiyokawa and Shimizu. I’m like, “Forget the fire drill, I need coffee!” So I sneak away and grab a latte. Best decision ever. The barista, this super chill guy, tells me they use local beans. I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Ashoro, not some hipster café in Tokyo.” But hey, I’m not complaining. After the fire drill fiasco, we finally get back inside. Mr. Tanaka is still in a mood, but I’m buzzing from the coffee. I sit down, and boom! My computer crashes. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” I just spent 20 minutes typing up these reports. So, I’m frantically trying to reboot it, and my coworker, Yuki, is laughing at me. She’s like, “You should’ve backed it up!” I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, I know. But who has time for that?” Finally, I get it back up, and I’m typing like a madman. I’m in the zone, and then my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy Hiro. He’s like, “Let’s hit up the izakaya after work!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m swamped!” But then I think, “Why not? I deserve a break.” So, the workday drags on, and I’m just counting down the minutes. I’m staring at the clock on the wall like it’s my worst enemy. Finally, 5 PM hits, and I’m outta there. I meet up with Hiro at this izakaya on the corner of Kiyokawa and the main street. It’s packed! I’m talking about the kind of packed where you can’t even move. But the vibe is awesome. We order a bunch of food—yakitori, edamame, the works. As we’re eating, I’m telling him about my day. He’s cracking up, especially about the fire alarm. I’m like, “Yeah, I should’ve just stayed at the café.” Then, outta nowhere, this guy at the next table spills his drink all over me. I’m like, “Seriously?!” But instead of getting mad, I just laugh. It’s been that kind of day. After a few drinks, I’m feeling good. We’re joking around, and I’m forgetting all about the stress. I even start dancing a little in my seat. Yeah, I know, embarrassing. But who cares? As the night winds down, I’m walking home, and I can’t help but smile. Ashoro might be small, but it’s got character. The streets are quiet, and I can hear the sound of the river nearby. I think about my day—tripping, coffee, fire alarms, and spilled drinks. It was chaotic, but it was mine. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day in Ashoro. Just another wild ride in the life of an accountant. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
