Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a stockbroker in Asuka is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. One minute you’re up, the next you’re screaming down. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I grab my coffee from that little joint on Asuka Street. You know the one? The one with the weird cat statue outside? Yeah, that place. I swear, that cat’s judging me every morning. Anyway, I’m chugging my caffeine like it’s the elixir of life, and I get a call. My buddy Kenji’s like, “Dude, you gotta check the Nikkei!” I’m like, “What now?” Turns out, the market’s doing this crazy dance. Up, down, all around. I’m sweating bullets. So, I rush to my office on Kōen-dōri. Traffic’s a nightmare. I’m stuck behind this old lady who’s going 20 in a 40 zone. I’m like, “C’mon, lady! I got stocks to trade!” Finally, I make it to the office, and it’s chaos. Phones ringing, people yelling, papers flying everywhere. It’s like a scene from a bad movie. I sit down, and boom! My screen lights up. Stocks are tanking. I’m talkin’ major losses. My heart’s racing. I’m like, “No, no, no! This can’t be happening!” I start typing like a madman, trying to salvage what I can. My fingers are flying over the keyboard. I’m sweating like I just ran a marathon. Then, outta nowhere, my boss, Mr. Tanaka, storms in. He’s got that look. You know the one. The “I’m about to lose my mind” look. He starts yelling about how we need to turn this around. I’m like, “Yeah, no pressure or anything!” I mean, c’mon, dude, I’m already on the edge! After what feels like an eternity, I finally catch a break. One of my stocks starts climbing. I’m like, “YES! Finally!” I’m fist-pumping in my chair. My coworkers are looking at me like I’m nuts. But I don’t care. I’m riding that wave. Then, I get a text from my buddy Hiro. He’s like, “Let’s hit up the izakaya later!” I’m like, “Dude, I need a drink after today!” So, I’m pumped for that. But first, I gotta deal with this market madness. Fast forward a few hours. The market’s still a mess, but I’m holding my ground. I’m feeling like a stock ninja. Then, I get a call from a client. He’s freaking out about his portfolio. I’m like, “Chill, man! It’s just numbers!” But he’s not having it. I’m trying to calm him down, but he’s going off about how he’s gonna lose everything. I’m like, “Dude, it’s not the end of the world!” But he’s not listening. Finally, the day winds down. I’m exhausted. I grab my stuff and head out. The streets of Asuka are buzzing. People are everywhere, and I’m just trying to make it to the izakaya without losing my mind. I pass by the Asuka Castle, and I’m like, “Man, if only I could just chill there.” I get to the izakaya, and Hiro’s already there, downing a beer. I plop down next to him, and we start laughing about the day. I’m like, “You won’t believe the chaos!” He’s cracking up, and for a moment, all the stress melts away. We order a bunch of food, and I’m finally relaxing. The vibe is good, and I’m grateful for moments like this. Asuka’s got its quirks, but it’s home. I mean, where else can you have a crazy day and then kick back with friends over some yakitori? So, yeah, that was my day. A wild ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Here’s to more crazy days in Asuka! Cheers! 🍻
