Man, what a day! I woke up in Beppu, and lemme tell ya, it was wild. I’m a charcoal burner, right? So, I’m used to the chill vibes of the mountains, but today? Nah, not even close. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Kamegawa Street. Grabbed my usual onigiri and a can of that sweet, sweet iced coffee. I swear, that stuff is like liquid gold. But then, boom! I spill it all over my shirt. Great start, right? I’m standing there, looking like a total mess, and the lady behind the counter just giggles. I mean, c’mon! So, I’m walking down the street, trying to shake it off. Beppu’s got this crazy mix of old and new. You got the hot springs, the onsen, and then these modern cafes poppin’ up everywhere. I love it, but it’s like, can’t we just keep it chill? Anyway, I’m heading to my spot in the hills, and I pass by the Beppu Tower. That thing is like a giant toothpick sticking outta the ground. I always think, “Who thought this was a good idea?” Then, outta nowhere, I hear this loud commotion. Turns out, there’s a festival happening on the main street! I’m like, “What the heck? I didn’t even know!” So, I wander over, and it’s packed. People everywhere, food stalls, music blaring. I’m feelin’ the energy, ya know? I grab some yakitori, and it’s fire! Like, I could eat a hundred of those. But then, I see this dude juggling fire. I’m like, “Bro, chill! You’re gonna burn down Beppu!” But he’s all about it, and the crowd’s loving it. I’m just standing there, half-eating my yakitori, half-worried about a fireball to the face. Then, I bump into this old guy. He’s got this wild beard and a smile that could light up the whole city. He starts telling me about the history of Beppu. Apparently, it’s famous for its hot springs, and there’s like, a million of ‘em. I’m thinking, “Dude, I just wanna burn some charcoal, not take a history class!” But he’s so passionate, I can’t help but listen. After that, I’m feeling all inspired, right? So, I decide to take a detour to the Beppu Hells. Yeah, that’s a thing. It’s like a bunch of hot springs that look like they’re from another planet. I’m walking around, and it’s all colorful and steamy. I’m snapping pics like a tourist, and I can’t help but laugh. Like, who knew hot water could be so entertaining? But then, I get a call. It’s my buddy, and he’s freaking out. Apparently, he’s stuck in a ditch somewhere near the Beppu Bay. I’m like, “Dude, how do you even manage that?” So, I rush over, and sure enough, there he is, looking like a lost puppy. I help him out, and we both just crack up. Finally, I head back home, and I’m exhausted. But as I’m walking up the hill, I look back at the city. The lights are twinkling, and I can see the steam rising from the onsen. It’s beautiful, man. I’m just a charcoal burner, but this city? It’s got my heart. So yeah, that was my day in Beppu. Full of spills, thrills, and a whole lotta laughs. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
