Man, what a day! Seriously, I can’t even. So, I’m a dental tech, right? Just another day in Gifu-shi, Japan. You know, the city with the cool river and that big ol’ castle? Yeah, that one. So, I roll outta bed, and it’s already a mess. My alarm? Didn’t go off. Classic. I’m sprinting down the street, dodging bikes on Kinkakuji-dori. Like, why do people think they can just ride wherever? Chill, dude! Finally, I get to the lab, and it’s chaos. My boss, Mr. Tanaka, is already on my case. “Where were you?” he barks. I’m like, “Dude, I’m here now!” But he’s not having it. I mean, come on, it’s Gifu-shi! We’re supposed to be chillin’ by the Nagaragawa River, not stressing over teeth! So, I’m working on this denture for Mrs. Sato. She’s sweet, but man, she talks a lot. I’m trying to focus, but she’s telling me about her cat, Tofu. “Tofu loves to nap on my dentures!” she says. I’m like, “Great, now I’m imagining a cat on teeth.” Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Kenji bursts in. He’s all hyped up. “Dude, you gotta see this!” He drags me outside to the street market on Meitetsu-dori. It’s packed! Food stalls everywhere. Takoyaki, yakitori, you name it. My stomach’s growling like crazy. But then, I see it. A giant inflatable squid. Like, what even? I’m laughing so hard, I almost drop my phone. Kenji’s like, “Let’s take a selfie!” So, we pose with the squid. Classic Gifu moment, right? But then, I get a text. It’s from Mrs. Sato. “I lost my dentures!” Panic mode activated. I’m like, “No way!” I rush back to the lab, heart racing. I’m thinking, “What if she can’t eat her favorite sushi?” Back at the lab, I’m searching everywhere. Under the desk, in the fridge (don’t ask), even in the supply closet. No dentures. I’m sweating bullets. Finally, I check the break room. And there they are! Right next to the leftover bento. Phew! I rush back to Mrs. Sato, and she’s so relieved. “You found them!” she says, and I’m like, “Yeah, they were just chillin’.” I swear, I could’ve cried. After that, I needed a break. So, I hit up a café on Kiyomizu-dori. Got myself a matcha latte. It’s like a hug in a cup. I sit outside, watching the world go by. Gifu-shi is beautiful, man. The mountains in the background, the river flowing. But then, I see this kid. He’s trying to catch a goldfish in a little pond. He’s so focused, it’s hilarious. I’m thinking, “Dude, it’s just a fish!” But he’s determined. I love that energy. As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, feeling all the feels. Gifu-shi is my jam. It’s got its quirks, like the random inflatable squid and Mrs. Sato’s cat, but that’s what makes it home. So yeah, what a day. From chaos to laughter, and a little bit of panic. Just another day in Gifu-shi, where the unexpected is always around the corner. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
