Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an arborist in Hatogaya-honcho is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, I’m at the park on Koshigaya Street. Beautiful trees, man. I’m talkin’ cherry blossoms, big ol’ oaks, the works. But then, I see this massive branch hangin’ by a thread. Like, c’mon, nature! You gotta do better! So, I climb up, and as I’m up there, I hear this kid yellin’, “Look, Mom! A monkey!” I’m like, “Nah, kid, just your friendly neighborhood arborist.” Then, outta nowhere, this pigeon swoops down and tries to steal my sandwich. I’m like, “Dude, back off!” But it’s a pigeon, so it just stares at me like I’m the one who’s crazy. I swear, these birds have no respect. After that, I head over to the Hatogaya-honcho Community Center. They wanted me to check on some sick trees. I get there, and it’s like a tree hospital. I’m talkin’ IVs, bandages, the whole shebang. I’m tryin’ to be all serious, but then I see this old lady feeding squirrels. She’s like, “You think they’ll share?” I’m like, “Lady, they’re squirrels. They don’t share nothin’!” So, I’m workin’ on this sickly maple, and I’m feelin’ all heroic, right? But then, I slip. I’m hangin’ on for dear life, and I’m like, “This is how I go out? A maple tree?!” But I manage to pull myself up, and I’m like, “Phew, not today!” Next, I head down to the riverbank by the Hatogaya-honcho Bridge. Beautiful spot, but the trash! Ugh! I’m pickin’ up plastic bottles, and I’m like, “Who raised you people?!” I mean, c’mon, it’s not that hard to throw stuff away. I’m ranting to myself, and this jogger runs by, gives me a thumbs up. I’m like, “Yeah, you get it!” Then, I get a call. Some dude’s freaking out about a tree blocking his driveway on Shimozato Street. I rush over, and it’s a whole scene. Neighbors are gathered, like it’s a tree party or somethin’. I’m like, “Guys, it’s just a tree!” But they’re all staring at me like I’m some kind of tree wizard. I get to work, and as I’m cutting, I hear someone shout, “Look out!” I turn, and this branch falls right next to me. I’m like, “Whoa! That was close!” Everyone gasps, and I’m just standing there, trying to play it cool. Inside, I’m like, “What the heck just happened?!” Finally, I finish up, and the crowd goes wild. I’m like, “Chill, it’s just a tree!” But they’re clapping and stuff. I’m not a rockstar, people! Just an arborist tryin’ to make a living. As the sun sets, I’m walking back home, and I can’t help but smile. Hatogaya-honcho is wild, man. It’s got its quirks, its crazy moments, but it’s home. I love these streets, the people, even the pigeons (kinda). So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional, tree-filled adventure in Hatogaya-honcho. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
