Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m an anticorrosion agent, right? Sounds fancy, but really, I just make sure metal doesn’t rust away. Today, though? Hekinan threw me a curveball. First off, I woke up late. Like, super late. My alarm? Totally ignored it. I bolted outta bed, threw on my work gear, and dashed out the door. I live near the Hekinan Port, so I thought, “Hey, I can make it!” Spoiler alert: I didn’t. Traffic on Route 247 was a nightmare. I mean, come on! It’s a Tuesday, not a holiday! I’m stuck behind this old dude in a tiny car, going 30 in a 60 zone. I’m like, “Dude, you got somewhere to be or what?” Finally, I zoomed past him on the left, feeling like a race car driver. Got to the site, and it was chaos. The crew was already there, but they were all huddled around some dude who was trying to fix a rusted pipe. I’m talking about a pipe that looked like it had been through a war. I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need. A rusty pipe drama.” Then, outta nowhere, it started pouring. I mean, like, monsoon-level rain. I’m standing there, drenched, trying to explain to my boss why we can’t work in this weather. He’s like, “Just put on your rain gear!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m an anticorrosion agent, not a water park attendant!” So, I’m standing there, soaked, and I see this little kid on the street. He’s holding a giant umbrella, and he’s just laughing at the rain. I’m like, “Man, I wish I could be that carefree.” But then I remember, I’m an adult. Adulting sucks. After the rain, we finally got to work. I was on Koshin Street, applying this new anticorrosion stuff. It’s supposed to be the best, but honestly, it smells like a mix of rotten eggs and bad decisions. I’m there, spraying away, when I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and some guy just knocked over a whole stack of metal sheets. I’m like, “Dude, what are you doing? This isn’t a demolition derby!” But then, something amazing happened. This old lady, she walks by, and she’s carrying this huge basket of fresh fish. She stops, looks at the mess, and just starts laughing. I mean, full-on belly laugh. It was contagious! I couldn’t help but chuckle too. After that, I needed a break. So, I hit up this little ramen shop on Hekinan’s main street. Best decision ever! The ramen was so good, I almost cried. I mean, who knew a bowl of noodles could fix a day like this? I slurped it down like I hadn’t eaten in days. But then, as I’m leaving, I see this guy trying to parallel park. He’s going back and forth, like, a million times. I’m standing there, popcorn in hand, just watching the show. Finally, he gets out, throws his hands up, and walks away. I’m like, “Bro, just give up!” The day wrapped up with me heading back home, exhausted but kinda happy. Hekinan is wild, man. It’s got this vibe. The streets, the people, the food. It’s chaotic but beautiful. I love it. So yeah, that was my day. Full of rust, rain, and ramen. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
