Man, today was a wild ride in Ina. Like, seriously, I didn’t expect half the stuff that went down. So, I woke up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Kōen-dōri. Gotta love those convenience stores. Grabbed my usual—onigiri and a can of iced coffee. But guess what? They were outta my fave flavor! Ugh, I was so mad. Like, how do you run out of tuna mayo? It’s a classic! So, I settled for some weird shrimp thing. Not the same, man. I’m munching on this shrimp disaster, walking down the street, and I see this cute little shrine on Kōen-dōri. It’s called the Ina Shrine. Super pretty, right? I’m all about that zen life, so I thought, “Why not?” I step in, and it’s peaceful. Like, I could hear my thoughts. But then, BAM! A bunch of kids run in, screaming and laughing. Totally ruined the vibe. I mean, come on, kids! Can’t a person meditate in peace? After that, I decided to stroll over to the Ina River. It’s so nice there, with cherry blossoms and all. But, of course, I trip over a rock. Classic me, right? I’m sprawled out on the ground, and this old dude walks by. He just looks at me and chuckles. Like, thanks, man. Real supportive. Then, I see this street performer on Nakamachi Street. He’s playing the shamisen, and it’s actually pretty dope. I’m vibing, feeling the music, and then—get this—he starts singing in English! I was like, “Whoa, dude, you’re in Japan!” But it was kinda cool. I mean, who doesn’t love a good shamisen cover of a pop song? But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I’m talking full-on monsoon. I’m soaked in seconds. I duck into a café on Shimo-ina Street. It’s cozy, and I order a hot matcha. While I’m waiting, I overhear this couple arguing. Like, really? In a café? Get a room, people! Finally, the rain stops, and I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy from the matcha. I step outside, and the streets are glistening. Everything looks fresh, you know? I’m walking back, and I see this little shop selling handmade crafts. I can’t resist. I buy a cute little charm. It’s a cat. I’m a sucker for cats. But then, I realize I left my phone at the café! Panic mode activated. I sprint back, dodging puddles like I’m in an action movie. I get there, and thank goodness, my phone’s chillin’ on the table. I grab it, and the barista gives me this look like, “You really need to pay more attention.” Yeah, no kidding! By the time I head home, I’m exhausted but kinda happy. I mean, what a day, right? From shrimp disasters to shamisen jams, and a little bit of drama. That’s Ina for ya. It’s a small city, but it’s packed with surprises. I flop onto my bed, thinking, “What a crazy, beautiful mess.” And honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
