Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a Banderillero in Kai is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’ through my window on Kōen-dōri. I’m like, “Great, another scorcher.” But hey, I’m pumped! Today’s the big festival, and I’m ready to show off my skills. First stop, grab some breakfast at this tiny joint on Kōen-dōri. Best tamagoyaki in town, no cap! I’m chowing down, and this old dude next to me starts ramblin’ about the history of Kai. Apparently, it’s got roots goin’ back to the Edo period. I’m like, “Cool story, bro,” but I’m just tryin’ to enjoy my food. After breakfast, I head to the plaza. Man, it’s packed! People everywhere, music blaring, and the smell of yakitori fills the air. I’m feelin’ the vibe, ya know? But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by and knocks my drink all over me. I’m soaked! I’m like, “Seriously, dude?!” But then I see his face—he’s just a little guy, probably didn’t mean it. So I laugh it off. Then, it’s showtime! I’m strutting my stuff, and the crowd’s hyped. I’m doin’ my thing, and it feels amazing. But then, I spot this guy in the front row. He’s got this smug look, like he thinks he’s better than everyone. I’m like, “Bro, you’re just standing there!” So I decide to give him a little show. I’m twirling my banderillas like a pro, and the crowd goes wild! But then, bam! I trip over my own feet. Classic me, right? I fall flat on my face, and the crowd goes silent for a sec. I’m mortified! But then, I just start laughing. I mean, what else can ya do? I get up, dust myself off, and the crowd erupts. It’s like they love me more now. After the show, I’m feelin’ on top of the world. I stroll down Kōen-dōri, and I see this little shop selling the cutest kokeshi dolls. I can’t resist! I buy one for my niece. She’s gonna flip! But then, I hit a snag. I’m walkin’ back, and I see a bunch of guys arguing near the station. It’s gettin’ heated, and I’m like, “Oh boy, here we go.” I’m not about to get involved, but I can’t help but eavesdrop. Turns out, they’re fightin’ over who makes the best ramen in Kai. I mean, c’mon! It’s all good! Finally, I make it back to the plaza for the fireworks. The sky lights up, and I’m just standing there, mouth agape. It’s beautiful! I’m surrounded by people, and we’re all just enjoying the moment. I feel this rush of happiness. It’s like all the craziness of the day just melts away. As the last firework goes off, I can’t help but think—this is what Kai is all about. The chaos, the laughter, the unexpected moments. It’s wild, it’s messy, but it’s home. I’m exhausted, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional ride in Kai. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
