Man, what a day! Seriously, Kaizu is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day. Boy, was I wrong. First off, I hit the streets of Kaizu around 9 AM. The sun was shining, and I was feeling good. I strolled down Kōen-dōri, vibing to some tunes. Then, bam! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, really? Thanks, nature. I’m already off to a great start. So, I’m walking, trying to shake off the bird bomb, and I decide to grab some breakfast at this little café on Kōen-dōri. The place is called “Café de Kaizu.” Cute, right? I order a matcha latte and a melon bread. The barista, this super chill dude, says, “You gotta try the anko filling.” I’m like, “Sure, why not?” OMG, that anko was life-changing! Sweet, but not too sweet. I was on cloud nine. But then, I spill half my latte all over my shirt. Great. Just great. I look like I’ve been in a food fight. After that, I decide to hit up the Kaizu Castle. I mean, it’s a must-see, right? I’m wandering around, taking pics, feeling like a tourist. The castle is stunning, with those traditional Japanese roofs and all. But then, I see this group of kids running around, and one of them bumps into me. I drop my phone! Ugh! I pick it up, and thankfully, it’s fine. But I’m fuming. Kids these days, man. No respect! I take a deep breath and try to chill. I mean, it’s Kaizu, right? Gotta enjoy the moment. Next, I head over to the Kaizu City Museum. I’m all about that history, you know? I’m checking out the exhibits, and there’s this one about the local pottery. Super cool! But then, I overhear this guy talking about how he thinks pottery is overrated. Like, dude, what? Pottery is art! I almost lost it. After the museum, I’m feeling a bit peckish again. I wander down to the shopping street, Chūō-dōri. It’s packed with shops and food stalls. I spot a takoyaki stand and can’t resist. I order a plate, and while I’m waiting, I see this cute dog. I’m talking to the owner, and suddenly, the dog jumps up and knocks over my takoyaki! Nooooo! I’m laughing and crying at the same time. The owner is super apologetic, but I’m like, “It’s cool, man. Just my luck today.” I grab another plate, and this time, I’m guarding it with my life. As the day goes on, I’m just rolling with the punches. I hit up a few more shops, snagging some souvenirs. I find this awesome little ceramic cat. It’s so cute! I name it “Kaizu Kitty.” Finally, I decide to chill at the Kaizu River. The sunset is gorgeous, painting the sky in pinks and oranges. I sit on a bench, sipping on a cold drink, and just take it all in. It’s peaceful, and I’m feeling grateful despite the chaos. But then, outta nowhere, a group of teenagers starts blasting music. Like, come on! Can’t a person enjoy some peace? I’m about to say something, but then I see them dancing, and I can’t help but laugh. They’re having a blast, and I’m just an old soul sitting there. As the night rolls in, I head back home, exhausted but happy. Kaizu, you’ve got my heart. You’re a wild ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. What a day!
