Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an arborist in Kaminokawa is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First stop, I’m at the park on Kawai Street. Beautiful trees, man. I’m talking cherry blossoms, the whole shebang. But then, I see this old dude trying to climb a tree. Like, seriously? Dude’s gotta be 80! I’m like, “Yo, grandpa, what’s the plan here?” He just grins and says he’s looking for his cat. I’m like, “Bro, your cat’s probably chillin’ at home, not 30 feet up!” So, I climb up to help him. I’m sweating bullets, and my heart’s racing. I finally spot the cat, just lounging on a branch like it owns the place. I’m like, “Dude, your cat’s a total diva!” Finally get the cat down, and the old guy’s all teary-eyed. I’m like, “Aww, man, don’t cry! It’s just a cat!” But hey, it made me happy. Next, I head over to the riverbank on the banks of the Tone River. Beautiful spot, right? But then I see this group of kids throwing rocks at the trees. I’m like, “What the heck, guys? Trees are friends, not targets!” I march over, and they scatter like cockroaches. I’m feeling like a tree superhero, saving the day. But then, I trip on a root. Classic. I’m sprawled out on the ground, and I hear this lady laughing. I look up, and it’s this cute girl. I’m like, “Great, now I’m the clumsy arborist.” She helps me up, and we start chatting. Turns out she’s into plants too! We bond over our love for trees. I’m thinking, “Maybe I should trip more often?” After that, I’m off to check out this sick old ginkgo tree on Kuroki Street. It’s massive, like a giant green umbrella. But guess what? Some jerk decided to carve their initials into it. I’m fuming! Like, who does that? I’m ready to go full-on tree vigilante. I take a pic for evidence, and I’m like, “You’re going down, tree vandal!” Then, I get a call from my boss. He’s like, “We need you at the community center.” I’m thinking, “Great, more work.” But when I get there, it’s a tree-planting event! Kids everywhere, digging holes, planting saplings. I’m like, “This is what it’s all about!” I get to teach them about trees, and they’re all so excited. It’s heartwarming, man. But then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring rain. I’m talking monsoon level! Kids are squealing, running everywhere. I’m trying to herd them like cats. “Stay together, guys!” But they’re all laughing and splashing. I can’t help but laugh too. It’s chaos, but it’s beautiful chaos. Finally, the rain stops, and there’s this rainbow over the river. I’m standing there, soaked but happy. I think about how lucky I am to work with trees and kids. Kaminokawa, man, it’s got its quirks, but it’s home. So, I wrap up my day, head back to my truck, and I’m just exhausted. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Trees, cats, kids, and a little chaos. That’s life in Kaminokawa for ya!
