Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Kaneyama really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s blazin’, birds chirpin’, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m headin’ down to the shearin’ shed on Kōen-dōri. You know, that street with all the cute little shops? Yeah, that one. I’m thinkin’ I’ll grab a coffee from that tiny café, the one with the weird name—like, “Mochi Munchies” or somethin’. I get there, and guess what? They’re outta coffee! Like, how do you run outta coffee in the morning? I’m already feelin’ the rage buildin’ up inside me. So, I’m like, “Fine, I’ll just get a tea.” But then, the lady behind the counter spills it all over the counter. I’m like, “Great, just great.” I mean, I love Kaneyama, but c’mon! I’m tryin’ to start my day here! Finally, I get to the shed, and it’s packed. I mean, like sardines in a can packed. Everyone’s buzzin’ around, and I’m just tryin’ to find my spot. I’m a shearer, not a crowd surfer! I grab my shears, and it’s go time. But then, outta nowhere, this sheep decides it’s gonna be a drama queen. It starts bleatin’ like it’s auditioning for a musical. I’m like, “Dude, chill! You’re not the star of this show!” But no, it’s kickin’ and squirming, and I’m just tryin’ to keep my cool. After a while, I finally get the hang of it. Shearin’ is kinda therapeutic, ya know? The rhythm, the snip-snip-snip. I’m in my zone. Then, BAM! The power goes out. Just like that. I’m standin’ there, shears in hand, lookin’ like a deer in headlights. Everyone’s freakin’ out. I’m like, “Guys, it’s just a power outage. We’ll be fine.” But they’re all runnin’ around like headless chickens. I mean, c’mon! We’re in Kaneyama, not a horror movie! So, I decide to take a break. I step outside, and wow, the view! The mountains in the background, the cherry blossoms on the street—Kōen-dōri is lookin’ gorgeous. I take a deep breath, and for a sec, I forget about the chaos. Then, I hear this loud crash. I whip around, and some dude just knocked over a whole stack of wool bales. I can’t help but laugh. Like, really? This day just keeps gettin’ better! After the power’s back, we finish shear’n, and I’m feelin’ accomplished. I head over to the Kaneyama Onsen to unwind. Man, that place is heaven. Soak in the hot springs, and all my worries just melt away. I’m sittin’ there, thinkin’ about how wild today was. But then, I overhear some folks talkin’ about the Kaneyama Festival comin’ up. I’m like, “Oh snap! I gotta check that out!” I love the food stalls and the parades. It’s like a big ol’ party in the streets. As I’m leavin’ the onsen, I bump into an old buddy from high school. We start chattin’, and he tells me about this new ramen joint on Shōwa-dōri. I’m like, “Dude, let’s go!” So, we hit it up, and man, that ramen is fire! By the end of the day, I’m exhausted but happy. Kaneyama, you crazy little city, you’ve got my heart. I mean, who knew a day could be so wild? From coffee spills to sheep drama, to ramen bliss. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Just another rollercoaster in Kaneyama. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
