Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I’m a biochemist, right? But today, I felt more like a circus performer in Kokubu-matsuki. First off, I woke up late. Like, super late. My alarm? Totally ignored it. I jumped outta bed, threw on whatever I could find. I mean, who needs matching socks anyway? So, I’m rushing outta my apartment on Kōbō-dōri, and I’m already sweating bullets. It’s humid as heck. I grab a quick breakfast at this little place on Shōwa-dōri. Best onigiri ever! I swear, if I could marry rice balls, I would. But then, I spill soy sauce all over my shirt. Great start, right? I hop on my bike, zooming through the streets. Kokubu-matsuki is a maze, man. I swear, I took a wrong turn on Kōbō-dōri and ended up at some random shrine. It was beautiful, though. Like, ancient trees and all that. I took a moment to breathe. But then, I hear this loud honking. I look up, and it’s a delivery truck. Dude, chill! Finally, I make it to the lab. My team’s already there, and they’re like, “Where’ve you been?” I’m like, “You know, just saving the world one onigiri at a time.” They roll their eyes. Classic. We’re working on this project about enzyme reactions. Super cool stuff, but my brain’s fried. I’m staring at the data, and it’s like, “What even is this?” I start questioning my life choices. Why did I choose biochemistry? I could’ve been a barista or something. Then, outta nowhere, my colleague Yuki bursts in. She’s all excited, waving this paper. “We got funding!” she yells. I’m like, “No way!” I mean, we’ve been grinding for months. I jump up, spill my coffee everywhere. Classic me. But I’m so pumped! We’re finally gonna make some real progress. But then, the mood shifts. My boss walks in, and he’s not happy. Apparently, we need to cut costs. Ugh, why? I’m like, “Dude, we just got funding!” But he’s all about the budget. I’m fuming. Like, can’t a scientist catch a break? After that, I needed a breather. I head out to the park near the Kokubu-matsuki station. It’s so chill there. I sit on a bench, watching the kids play. They’re laughing, and I’m just thinking about how serious life gets. I mean, we’re all just trying to figure it out, right? Then, I see this old man feeding pigeons. He’s got this huge bag of bread. I’m like, “Man, that’s the dream.” Just chilling, feeding birds. I wanna be that guy. But then, one pigeon swoops down and steals his sandwich. The look on his face? Priceless! I’m cracking up. I head back to the lab, feeling a bit better. But then, I trip on the stairs. Like, seriously? I’m fine, just a little embarrassed. My team’s laughing, and I’m like, “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.” The day drags on, and we finally wrap up. I’m exhausted but happy. We made some breakthroughs, and I’m feeling good about it. I bike home, taking the long way through the streets of Kokubu-matsuki. The sunset is gorgeous. I stop at a little shop on Kōbō-dōri and grab some ice cream. Best decision ever. As I sit on my balcony, eating ice cream, I think about the day. It was a rollercoaster. Ups, downs, and a whole lotta chaos. But that’s life, right? Just gotta roll with it. I wouldn’t trade my crazy days for anything. Kokubu-matsuki, you’re wild, but I love ya!
