Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an auctioneer in Kurashiki is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the Ohara Museum of Art. I mean, it’s a must-see, right? But I’m late! I’m sprinting down the narrow streets of Kurashiki, dodging tourists like I’m in some kinda video game. I swear, if I trip over one more cobblestone on Chuo-dori, I’m gonna lose it. Finally, I get to the museum, and it’s packed. Like, sardines in a can packed. I’m tryin’ to catch my breath, and this lady in front of me is takin’ a selfie with a Van Gogh. I’m like, “Lady, it’s a painting, not a celebrity!” But whatever, I’m here for the art, not the drama. After that, I rush to my auction at the Kurashiki City Hall. I’m all hyped up, ready to sell some cool stuff. But guess what? The power goes out! I’m standin’ there, mic in hand, lookin’ like a deer in headlights. I mean, c’mon! How am I supposed to auction off a vintage kimono in the dark? So, I’m improvising, right? I start shoutin’ bids like I’m at a rock concert. “Who wants this beauty?!” People are laughin’, and I’m just rollin’ with it. Finally, the lights flicker back on, and I’m like, “Phew, we’re back in business!” But then, this dude in the back starts yellin’. Turns out, he’s mad ‘cause he thought I was sellin’ his grandma’s vase. I’m like, “Bro, I don’t even know your grandma!” But he’s not havin’ it. So, I throw in a free auction paddle, and he calms down. Crisis averted, right? Later, I take a breather by the Kurashiki River. It’s so peaceful there. The willow trees are swayin’, and I’m just chillin’. But then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by, and his ice cream goes flying! SPLAT! Right on my shoe. I’m like, “Great, now I’m part of the local art scene.” As the day winds down, I hit up a little izakaya on Sanbashi Street. I’m starving! I order some okonomiyaki, and it’s like a party in my mouth. Seriously, if you haven’t had it, you’re missing out. I’m sittin’ there, scarfing it down, and I overhear this couple talkin’ about the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. I’m like, “Yeah, it’s pretty dope. You should check it out!” But then, I realize I’m late for my next auction. I bolt outta there, and I’m sprinting again. I’m thinkin’, “Why do I always do this to myself?” I finally make it, and guess what? I trip on the same cobblestone again! I’m like, “Seriously, Kurashiki? You’re out to get me!” The night ends with me finally selling that vintage kimono. The crowd goes wild! I’m feelin’ like a rockstar. But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. I’m soaked, but I’m laughin’. I mean, what a day, right? So, yeah, Kurashiki, you’ve got my heart. You’re wild, unpredictable, and full of surprises. Can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
