Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in Maebashi, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m a scientist, but today I felt more like a mad scientist. I had this big presentation at the Maebashi City Hall. You know, the one on Kōen-dōri? Yeah, that one. I was pumped. I had my slides ready, my data all neat and tidy. But then, I step outside, and it’s like the universe decided to mess with me. I’m walking down the street, and boom! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Like, seriously? I’m just trying to live my best life here! I’m standing there, flapping my arms like a crazy person, trying to get it off. People are staring. Great start, right? So, I finally get to the City Hall, looking like a hot mess. I rush in, and guess what? My presentation is in the wrong format. Ugh! I could’ve screamed. I mean, who even uses .pptx anymore? I’m all about that .pdf life! But nooo, I had to be the one scientist who can’t figure out tech. Anyway, I’m sweating bullets, and my heart’s racing. I’m thinking, “This is it. I’m gonna bomb this.” But then, something magical happens. The audience is super chill. They’re nodding, smiling, and I’m like, “Wait, are they actually into this?” I start to relax, and I’m hitting my points. I even throw in a joke about how my research is like a bad relationship—lots of ups and downs, but you keep going back for more. They laugh! I’m on a roll! After the presentation, I’m feeling like a rockstar. I stroll down to the Maebashi Park, you know, the one with the cherry blossoms? It’s gorgeous! I’m soaking it all in, thinking life’s not so bad. But then, I see this kid flying a kite. And I’m like, “That’s awesome!” But then, the kite gets stuck in a tree. I’m talking a full-on rescue mission. I’m climbing this tree like I’m Tarzan or something. I’m up there, branches scratching my arms, and I finally get the kite down. The kid’s cheering, and I’m feeling like a hero. But then, I lose my balance and almost fall. Classic me, right? So, I’m back on the ground, heart racing again. I’m like, “Okay, let’s grab some food.” I hit up this little ramen shop on Kōen-dōri. Best decision ever! The ramen is so good, I could cry. I’m slurping away, and the owner’s this sweet old lady who keeps refilling my bowl. I’m like, “Lady, I’m gonna explode!” But I can’t stop. After that, I decide to take a stroll by the Tone River. It’s beautiful, but then I see this group of people fishing. And I’m like, “What are they even catching?” I mean, it’s the Tone River, not exactly a fishing hotspot. But hey, to each their own, right? As I’m walking, I bump into an old friend from college. We start chatting, and it’s like no time has passed. We’re laughing about our crazy lab days, and I’m feeling all nostalgic. But then, he mentions he’s moving to Tokyo. I’m like, “Dude, why? Maebashi is where it’s at!” But he’s all about the big city life. I get it, but still, it stings a bit. By the time I head home, I’m exhausted but happy. I mean, what a rollercoaster! From pigeon poop to ramen bliss, and everything in between. Maebashi, you’ve got my heart. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Just, please, no more pigeon incidents, okay?
