Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a barber in Matsushima is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. One minute you’re snippin’ away, the next you’re dodging tourists and their selfie sticks. Ugh! So, I roll into the shop on Matsushima’s main drag, Matsushima Kaigan. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Yeah, right! First customer walks in, and it’s this dude with hair like a bird’s nest. I mean, c’mon, bro! You can’t just let it go wild like that. I’m tryin’ to work my magic, but he keeps talkin’ about the view from Godaido. Like, dude, I get it, Matsushima’s beautiful. The islands, the pine trees, the whole nine yards. But can we focus on your hair? Then, outta nowhere, this lady bursts in. She’s all frantic, like she just saw a ghost or something. Turns out, she lost her phone at the famous Matsushima Bay. I’m like, “Lady, chill! It’s just a phone.” But she’s all, “No, it’s got pics of my cat!” I mean, who takes cat pics to Matsushima? So, I finish up with Mr. Bird’s Nest, and I’m feelin’ good. I step outside for a breather, and bam! I’m hit with the smell of fresh seafood from the stalls near the bay. Matsushima’s known for its oysters, and let me tell ya, they’re bomb! But I can’t eat ‘em right now. Gotta get back to work. Back in the shop, I get this group of tourists. They’re loud, laughin’, and one of ‘em has a shirt that says “I love Matsushima.” I’m like, “Yeah, who doesn’t?” But then they start askin’ me about the best spots. I’m tryin’ to give ‘em the lowdown on the islands, like Fukuura Island and its bridge. But they’re not listenin’. They just want selfies. I’m snippin’ away, and I hear one of ‘em say, “This place is so peaceful!” Peaceful? You’re in my shop, and I’m about to lose it! Then, I get a call from my buddy. He’s at the Matsushima Aquarium, and he’s like, “Dude, you gotta see the sea otters!” I’m like, “I’m busy, man!” But then I think, “Sea otters? I could use a laugh.” So, I wrap up the tourists, and I’m outta there. I head to the aquarium, and wow, those otters are the cutest! They’re just floatin’ around, playin’ with each other. I’m grinnin’ like an idiot. But then, I get a text from my boss. “Where are you?” Oh snap! I forgot I was supposed to close the shop! I bolt back, and I’m runnin’ down Matsushima Kaigan like a madman. I get back, and my boss is waitin’ there, arms crossed. I’m like, “Sorry, man! Sea otters!” He just shakes his head, but I can see he’s tryin’ not to laugh. Finally, I close up shop, and I’m walkin’ home. The sunset over Matsushima Bay is insane. The colors are poppin’, and I’m feelin’ grateful. Yeah, it was a crazy day, but that’s Matsushima for ya. Full of surprises, laughter, and a little bit of chaos. I plop down on my couch, exhausted but happy. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what’ll happen? But for now, I’m just gonna chill and dream about those sea otters.
