Man, what a day! I woke up in Midori, Japan, and thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I’m an agronomist, right? So I’m all about plants and crops. But today? Ugh. I had to run to the city center. I mean, Midori’s got some cool spots, but the hustle? Not my vibe. I was cruising down Kōen-dōri, and it was packed! Like, where did all these people come from? I’m dodging folks left and right. I swear, I almost tripped over a kid. He was just standing there, staring at his phone like it was the last slice of pizza. I wanted to yell, “Dude, move!” But I just kept it moving. So I finally get to the Midori Agricultural Center. I’m pumped to check out some new tech for farming. But guess what? They’re closed! Like, seriously? I’m standing there, staring at the sign like it’s gonna change. I’m fuming. I mean, I drove all the way from my place near the Midori River. Then, I decide to grab some lunch. Hit up this little ramen joint on Shōwa-dōri. Best decision ever! I ordered the tonkotsu, and it was like a hug in a bowl. I’m slurping away, and this old dude next to me starts chatting. He’s all about the rice paddies and how they used to be everywhere. I’m nodding, but inside I’m like, “Bro, I’m just here for the ramen.” After lunch, I’m feeling good. But then, bam! I step outside, and it’s pouring. Like, monsoon-level rain. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m cursing the weather gods. “Really? You couldn’t wait an hour?” I duck into a convenience store on Kōen-dōri, and it’s packed with people. Everyone’s just standing there, looking miserable. I’m thinking, “Welcome to Midori, where the weather hates you!” I grab an umbrella, but it’s one of those flimsy ones. You know, the ones that flip inside out at the slightest breeze? Yeah, that one. I’m wrestling with it like it’s a wild animal. Finally, I get it open, and I’m feeling like a champ. But then, I step outside, and the wind’s like, “Nah, not today.” The umbrella flips, and I’m standing there, looking like a fool. I’m laughing at myself, though. Gotta find the humor, right? So I start walking down to the Midori Park. It’s usually so peaceful, but today? It’s a swamp. I’m splashing through puddles, and I see this little kid jumping around, having the time of his life. I’m like, “Man, I wish I could be that carefree.” Then, I spot a group of folks doing tai chi. In the rain! I’m thinking, “These people are next level.” I join in, and it’s hilarious. I’m trying to follow along, but I’m slipping and sliding everywhere. I’m sure I looked ridiculous, but who cares? After that, I finally head home. I’m exhausted but happy. Midori’s got this weird charm, you know? Even when it’s a mess, it’s still beautiful. I get home, kick off my wet shoes, and just laugh. What a day! So yeah, that was my wild ride in Midori. Full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of an agronomist, right?
