Man, today was a wild ride in Minokamo. Like, seriously, I didn’t expect this city to throw me so many curveballs. So, I woke up, right? Sun shining, birds chirping, all that cliché stuff. I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local café on Kawai Street. Best coffee ever, I swear. I ordered my usual—black coffee, no sugar. I’m trying to be all healthy and stuff. But then, this dude in front of me orders a freakin’ matcha latte with extra foam. Like, who even drinks that? I roll my eyes, but whatever. I’m not here to judge. So, I grab my coffee and head out. I’m strolling down the riverbank by the Kiso River, and it’s beautiful. The cherry blossoms are still hanging on, and I’m feeling all poetic. I whip out my notebook, ready to jot down some genius ideas. But then, BAM! A pigeon poops on my shoulder. Ugh! Seriously? I’m like, “Thanks, nature.” I try to shake it off, but it’s stuck. I’m walking around like a total mess. I mean, who knew Minokamo’s pigeons were so aggressive? I’m laughing and cursing at the same time. Next, I decide to hit up the Minokamo Art Museum. I’m all about that culture, ya know? I walk in, and it’s super quiet. I’m admiring this painting, and suddenly, this kid runs by, knocks over a sculpture, and it shatters. I’m like, “Oh no, not the art!” The parents are mortified, and I’m just standing there, trying not to laugh. After that chaos, I wander over to the shopping area on Nakashima Street. I’m looking for some cool souvenirs. I find this little shop selling handmade pottery. I’m all about supporting local artists, so I grab a cute mug. But then, the shopkeeper starts talking my ear off about the history of pottery in Minokamo. I’m nodding, but inside I’m like, “Dude, I just wanted a mug.” Then, I hit up a food stall. I’m starving, right? I order some yakitori, and it’s amazing. I’m munching away, and this old lady next to me starts chatting. She’s telling me about her life in Minokamo, how she used to play by the river as a kid. It’s sweet, but I’m also trying to eat, lady! Suddenly, it starts pouring. Like, outta nowhere. I’m soaked in seconds. I dash for cover under a nearby awning on Kawai Street again. I’m laughing at the absurdity of it all. I mean, who gets rained on while eating yakitori? Finally, I decide to call it a day. I’m walking back, still dripping wet, and I see this beautiful sunset over the river. It’s like the universe is saying, “Hey, it’s all good.” I pull out my phone to snap a pic, and my battery dies. Classic. So, I head home, feeling all kinds of emotions. Minokamo, you crazy little city, you’ve got my heart. I’m angry, happy, surprised, and just plain exhausted. But hey, that’s life, right? Can’t wait to write about this day. It’s gonna be epic.
