Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Mishima is like riding a rollercoaster with no seatbelt. So, I roll up to the beach, right? It’s a sunny day, perfect for chillin’ at Mishima’s beautiful Yuigahama Beach. The waves are crashin’, people are laughin’, and I’m just tryin’ to keep my cool. First thing I notice? The smell of yakitori wafting through the air. Like, c’mon, who can resist that? I’m thinkin’ about snagging some after my shift. But then, BAM! A kid starts yellin’ like he’s seen a ghost. I look over, and this little dude is flailin’ in the water. Panic mode activated! I sprint down the sandy stretch of Kōen-dōri, heart racin’. I dive in, and let me tell ya, the water’s colder than my ex’s heart. I reach the kid, and he’s just splashing around like a fish outta water. I grab him, pull him up, and he’s like, “I was just tryin’ to swim!” Bro, you were about to become a mermaid! I get him back to shore, and his mom is freakin’ out. She’s all like, “Thank you, thank you!” I’m just like, “No prob, lady. Just doin’ my job.” But inside, I’m like, “Why don’t you keep an eye on your kid?” After that, I’m feelin’ pretty good, right? Like a hero or somethin’. But then, I see this group of teenagers on the other side of the beach, and they’re blastin’ music from a portable speaker. It’s so loud, I can’t even hear myself think! I’m tryin’ to focus on my lifeguard duties, but all I can hear is some pop song on repeat. Ugh! I march over, ready to give ‘em a piece of my mind. “Yo! Turn it down!” I shout. They look at me like I’m the Grinch. One of ‘em, this dude with a crazy haircut, goes, “Chill, man! We’re just vibin’!” Vibe? More like a noise pollution disaster! I’m about to lose it, but I take a deep breath. “Look, I get it, but there are kids here. Keep it down, alright?” They roll their eyes but finally turn it down. Phew! Then, outta nowhere, this old lady comes up to me. She’s got this huge smile, and she’s like, “You’re doing a great job, young man!” I’m thinkin’, “Wow, thanks!” But then she hands me a piece of mochi. Like, what? I’m not sure if I should eat it or not. But hey, free food! I pop it in my mouth, and it’s the best mochi I’ve ever had. Sweet, chewy, and just the right amount of sticky. I’m feelin’ on top of the world again! But wait, there’s more! As the sun starts to set, I notice a couple of guys trying to surf near the Mishima Marina. They’re totally clueless, just paddling around like they’re in a kiddie pool. I can’t help but laugh. One dude wipes out hard, and I’m like, “Dude, you okay?” He just gives me a thumbs up, but I can see he’s struggling. I’m thinkin’ about how Mishima is such a chill place, but sometimes it feels like a circus. Between the tourists, the locals, and the random events, it’s never a dull moment. I mean, we’ve got the Mishima Taisha shrine nearby, and people are always takin’ pics, but here I am, just tryin’ to keep everyone safe. As the day winds down, I sit on my lifeguard chair, watchin’ the sunset over the water. It’s beautiful, man. The sky’s all orange and pink, and I can’t help but feel grateful. Sure, it was a wild day, but that’s what makes it worth it. Mishima’s got its quirks, but it’s home. So, I pack up my stuff, ready to head out. I’m thinkin’ about that yakitori again. Gotta treat myself after a day like this! I stroll down the beach, the sound of waves crashing behind me, and I can’t help but smile. Bring on tomorrow!
