Man, what a day! I swear, Nagaoka really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First stop, I’m heading to this gig on Otemachi Street. You know, the one with all the shops and cafes? Yeah, that place. I’m all pumped, got my tools ready, feeling like a boss. But then, boom! I hit traffic on Route 8. Like, seriously? It’s a Tuesday! Who’s out here causing a jam? I’m sitting there, fuming, thinking about how I could’ve been sipping coffee instead. Finally, I get to the site. It’s this old building, kinda sketchy, but whatever. I’m there to install some radio gear. I walk in, and the client’s like, “Hey, can you do it in an hour?” An hour?! Dude, I’m not a magician! I’m just a guy with a toolbox. But I smile and nod, cause that’s what you do, right? So, I start working, and let me tell ya, this equipment is ancient. I’m talking like, “Did this come from a museum?” I’m wrestling with wires, and I’m sweating like a pig. And then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. I’m like, “Great, just great.” I’m stuck in the dark, and I can’t even see my own hands. But then, I hear this weird noise. I’m thinking, “What now?” Turns out, it’s just a cat. A fluffy little thing, just chilling in the corner. I’m like, “Dude, you scared the life outta me!” But I can’t help but laugh. I mean, who brings a cat to a radio install? Only in Nagaoka, I guess. After the power comes back, I finally get the gear set up. It’s working, and I’m feeling like a rockstar. But then, the client’s like, “Can you make it play my favorite song?” I’m like, “Bro, this isn’t a jukebox!” But I try anyway. I mean, how hard can it be? So, I’m fiddling with the settings, and suddenly, the whole place is blasting J-Pop. I’m talking full volume. I’m jumping around, trying to turn it down, and the client is loving it. He’s dancing like nobody’s watching. I’m just standing there, half embarrassed, half amused. Finally, I wrap up and head out. I’m walking down the streets of Nagaoka, feeling good. The sun’s setting, and the city looks beautiful. I pass by the Nagaoka Castle ruins, and I’m like, “Man, this place has history.” I stop for a second, just soaking it all in. But then, I trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Classic me, right? I’m sprawled out, and this old lady walks by. She just looks at me and says, “You okay, young man?” I’m like, “Yeah, just practicing my parkour.” She chuckles, and I feel a bit better. As I’m heading home, I can’t help but think about the day. It was wild, emotional, and totally unexpected. Nagaoka, you crazy city, you’ve got my heart. I love the chaos, the surprises, and even the cats. Here’s to more days like this—just maybe with fewer trips and more coffee!
