Man, what a day! I swear, Namerikawa really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I’m a bone cutter, right? Yeah, sounds wild, but it’s my jam. Anyway, I woke up this morning, sun shining, birds chirping, and I thought, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Kurobe Street for my usual breakfast—onigiri and a can of iced coffee. I’m standing there, half-asleep, and this old dude starts chatting me up about the weather. Like, bro, it’s Japan, it’s either raining or sunny. What’s the big deal? But he’s all like, “You know, the mountains look great today.” I’m just nodding, trying to get my food and bounce. So, I finally get to the clinic, right? It’s on the corner of Namerikawa and Takamatsu. I walk in, and the vibe is off. My coworker, Yuki, is pacing like a caged tiger. Turns out, we got a last-minute emergency. Some kid from the local school got into a freak accident during gym class. Like, seriously? Gym class? What’s next, dodgeball injuries? I rush over to the hospital, and let me tell ya, the streets were packed. I mean, Namerikawa is usually chill, but today? Nah. Everyone and their grandma was out. I’m dodging bikes, old ladies, and kids on scooters. I almost got taken out by a delivery guy on a moped. Dude was flying down Namerikawa Street like he was in a Fast and Furious movie. Finally, I get to the ER, and it’s chaos. The kid’s there, screaming his head off. I mean, I get it, but c’mon, man, I’m trying to help you! I’m all suited up, ready to do my thing, and the nurse is like, “You got this!” I’m like, “Yeah, sure, no pressure.” So, I start working on the kid. He’s got a nasty break, and I’m in my zone, you know? But then, outta nowhere, the lights flicker. I’m thinking, “Great, just what I need.” And then—BAM! Power goes out. Total darkness. I’m standing there, holding a bone saw, and I’m like, “This is how horror movies start.” But then, the backup generator kicks in. Thank the bone gods! I get back to work, and after what feels like forever, I finally fix the kid up. He’s crying, but I can see he’s relieved. I’m feeling like a hero, right? But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, seriously? I just got out of a surgery, and now I’m drenched? I’m walking back to my bike, and I see this cute little café on the corner of Namerikawa and Kurobe. I’m like, “Screw it, I need a pick-me-up.” I grab a matcha latte, and it’s like heaven in a cup. I sit down, and this lady next to me starts talking about her cat. I’m like, “Lady, I just saved a kid’s leg, and you’re talking about Mr. Whiskers?” But she’s so into it, I can’t help but smile. After that, I head home, and I’m just thinking about the day. Namerikawa is wild, man. One minute you’re cutting bones, the next you’re dodging mopeds and chatting about cats. I love this place, even when it drives me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Just another crazy, emotional rollercoaster in Namerikawa. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
