Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a vet in Narita is like a rollercoaster ride. Buckle up, ‘cause this is gonna be a wild one. So, I roll into the clinic on Narita’s main drag, Higashi-Nakadai. The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I get a call from this frantic lady. She’s like, “My cat, Mr. Whiskers, ate a whole bag of catnip!” I’m like, “Lady, that’s like giving a kid a whole bag of candy!” But I rush over to her place on Omote-Sando anyway. Traffic was a mess, of course. Narita’s streets can be a nightmare. I swear, I saw a guy on a bike almost get taken out by a bus. Crazy! When I finally get there, Mr. Whiskers is bouncing off the walls. I mean, this cat is high as a kite! I’m tryin’ to calm him down, but he’s just zooming around the living room like he’s training for the kitty Olympics. I’m laughing, but also like, “Dude, chill!” The lady’s freaking out, and I’m just trying to keep it together. After that, I head back to the clinic, and guess what? My next patient is a dog named Taro. Cute little Shiba Inu. But Taro’s got a bad case of the runs. Ugh. I’m like, “Great, just what I needed.” So, I’m cleaning up after him, and I can’t help but think about how Narita’s got this amazing mix of old and new. One minute I’m in a modern clinic, the next I’m staring at the ancient Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. It’s like, “Hey, can I get some zen over here?” Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Kenji shows up. He’s a fellow vet and always brings snacks. I’m like, “Dude, you’re a lifesaver!” We’re munching on some onigiri, and I’m telling him about Mr. Whiskers. He’s cracking up, and I’m just glad to have a moment of normalcy. But then, the phone rings again. It’s a guy on the other end, totally panicking. “My parakeet, Yuki, is stuck in a tree!” I’m like, “Seriously? A tree?” But I can’t say no. So, I grab my gear and head to the park near Narita Station. When I get there, I see this dude looking up at a tree like it’s the end of the world. Yuki’s up there, chirping away like she’s queen of the castle. I’m thinking, “How did you even get up there?” So, I climb up this tree, and let me tell ya, I’m not exactly a monkey. I’m slipping, sliding, and praying I don’t fall. Finally, I grab Yuki and bring her down. The guy’s all teary-eyed, and I’m just relieved I didn’t break my neck. By now, it’s late afternoon, and I’m exhausted. I decide to take a stroll down Narita’s shopping street, Sanrizuka. I need some retail therapy, ya know? I pop into a little shop and grab some matcha ice cream. Best decision ever! It’s creamy, sweet, and just what I need after a chaotic day. As I’m walking, I see this group of kids playing with a puppy. They’re laughing, and it hits me—this is why I do what I do. The joy animals bring is unreal. I’m smiling like a goofball, thinking about how Narita’s got this vibe that just makes you feel alive. But then, I trip over my own feet. Classic me, right? I spill my ice cream all over my shirt. I’m standing there, covered in green matcha, and I can’t help but laugh. Just my luck! Finally, I head home, totally wiped out. I flop onto my couch, thinking about the day. It was a whirlwind of chaos, laughter, and a bit of craziness. But hey, that’s life as a vet in Narita. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.
