Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a bailiff in Oami is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Kōen-dōri for my morning coffee. You know, the one with the best onigiri? Yeah, that one. I grab my usual—salmon, of course—and the cashier, this sweet old lady, gives me a smile. I’m thinkin’, “Aww, she’s the best.” But then, BAM! A dude barges in, all frantic, yelling about some missing mining equipment. Like, dude, chill! We’re not in a horror movie! So, I’m outta there, trying to shake off the weird vibes. I head to the mining site near the Oami River. It’s a pretty chill spot, but today? Nah. I get there, and the crew’s all riled up. Apparently, some joker decided to “borrow” our tools. Borrow? More like steal! I’m fuming. I mean, who does that? I start pacing, thinking about how to handle this. I’m like, “Yo, we gotta report this!” But then, my buddy Kenji, he’s all laid back, says, “Let’s just find ‘em.” I’m like, “Find ‘em? With what? A treasure map?” But hey, Kenji’s got a point. We start searching around the site, and I’m sweating bullets. Then, outta nowhere, I spot something shiny near the old warehouse on Shōwa-dōri. My heart races. Is it? Could it be? I run over, and it’s a freaking gold-plated shovel! I’m like, “What the heck? Who’s bling-ing out their tools?” Turns out, it was just some prankster’s idea of a joke. I laugh, but I’m still mad. After that, we finally get a lead on the missing gear. Some kid saw a couple of guys dragging our stuff down by the Oami Port. I’m like, “Great, let’s go!” We hop in the truck, and I’m driving like I’m in a Fast & Furious movie. When we get there, it’s chaos. I see these guys trying to sell our tools to some randoms. I jump out, yelling, “Hey! Those are ours!” They look at me like I’m crazy. I mean, who wouldn’t? But I’m not backing down. Long story short, we get our stuff back. I’m feeling like a hero, but then I trip over a crate. Classic me, right? I land face-first in the dirt, and everyone’s laughing. I can’t help but laugh too. It’s just one of those days. By the time I’m heading home, I’m exhausted. I stroll down Kōen-dōri again, and the sun’s setting. It’s beautiful, man. Oami’s got this vibe that just hits different at dusk. I stop by my favorite izakaya for a drink. I order some yakitori and a cold beer. I’m thinking, “I earned this.” As I sit there, I reflect on the day. It was wild, emotional, and a bit ridiculous. But that’s Oami for ya. Full of surprises, laughter, and a little chaos. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just another day in the life of a bailiff, right?
