Man, what a day! Oita, you wild beast. I woke up thinking it’d be chill, just another day in this quirky city. But nah, Oita had other plans. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Nakashima Street. You know, the one with the best onigiri? Grabbed a couple for breakfast. I’m munching away, feeling like a king, when I see this cat just chillin’ on the sidewalk. Like, dude, you’re not even phased by the world. I envy that cat. Then I decided to stroll down to the Beppu Bay area. The view? Stunning. But the wind? Ugh, it was like Mother Nature was throwing shade. I swear, I almost lost my hat. I mean, c’mon, I just got this thing! So I’m walking, right? And I see this street performer on the corner of Kamegawa. He’s playing the shamisen, and it’s beautiful. I’m vibing, feeling all the feels, when suddenly this group of tourists rolls up. They’re loud, taking selfies, and blocking my view. Like, can’t a guy enjoy some culture in peace? I was about to lose it. But then, plot twist! The performer starts playing this upbeat tune, and I can’t help but smile. I mean, who doesn’t love a good jam? I even tossed him some yen. Felt like a hero for a sec. Next, I decided to check out the Oita Marine Palace. I’m a sucker for aquariums. I walk in, and it’s like a whole new world. Fish everywhere! I’m talking jellyfish, clownfish, you name it. But then, I see this kid, maybe 5 years old, just screaming at the top of his lungs. He’s pointing at a shark. I get it, buddy, but chill! After that, I hit up the Oita Castle ruins. I’m climbing up, and it’s a workout, man. I’m sweating like a pig. But the view from the top? Worth it. You can see all of Oita, the mountains in the background, the city sprawled out. It’s breathtaking. I’m standing there, feeling all philosophical, like, “What’s my purpose?” Then I remember I’m a game designer. So, yeah, that’s cool. But then, bam! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “Need that game design by EOD.” I’m like, “Dude, I’m in Oita!” But you know how it is. Work calls. So I start brainstorming ideas while walking down the bustling streets of Oita. I pass by the famous Yufuin area. The hot springs are calling my name. But I can’t stop. Gotta get this design done. I’m juggling ideas in my head, and suddenly, I trip over a curb. Classic me. I’m sprawled out on the sidewalk, and this old lady just looks at me like I’m a total idiot. Thanks, Oita, for the ego boost. Finally, I find a café on the corner of Sakaemachi. I plop down, order a matcha latte, and start sketching. The barista is super chill, and we start chatting about the best ramen spots in town. I’m like, “Dude, I need to hit up that place on Showa Street.” As I’m sketching, I can’t help but feel grateful. Oita’s got this vibe, you know? It’s a mix of tradition and modern life. I love it. But then, I look at the time. I’m late for dinner with friends! I rush out, spilling my latte everywhere. Great. Just great. I’m running down the streets, dodging people like I’m in a video game. Finally, I make it to the restaurant, and my friends are already there, laughing at my late arrival. We feast on ramen, and I’m telling them about my day. They’re cracking up at my stories. Oita, you’ve been a rollercoaster. I’m exhausted but happy. As I head home, I can’t help but think about all the crazy stuff that happened. Oita, you’re a gem. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
