Man, today was a wild ride in Otsu! Like, seriously, I can’t even. Woke up thinking it’d be a chill day. Spoiler alert: it was NOT. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Otsu’s main street, Route 161. Grabbed my usual onigiri and a can of iced coffee. You know, the good stuff. But then, bam! I spill coffee all over my shirt. Great start, right? I’m standing there like a total mess, trying to clean it up with napkins. Classic me. So, I’m walking down to Lake Biwa, right? The view is stunning, like postcard material. But then I see this group of tourists. They’re trying to take a selfie, but they can’t figure out how to use their phone. I’m just standing there, watching them struggle. I mean, c’mon! It’s 2023! I almost offered to help, but then I thought, nah, let them figure it out. Then, I hit up the Otsu Matsuri. OMG, the energy was insane! People everywhere, food stalls, music blasting. I’m like, yes! This is what I live for! But then, I see this dude trying to juggle. He drops a ball, and it rolls right into my foot. I’m like, dude, really? But I just laughed it off. Gotta love the chaos, right? After that, I decided to stroll down to the Omi Shrine. It’s so peaceful there. I was feeling all zen until I saw a bunch of kids running around, screaming. Like, chill out, kids! But then, one of them trips and falls. I felt bad, but I couldn’t help but chuckle. Kids are hilarious, man. Then, I met up with some friends at a local izakaya on Shiga Street. We ordered way too much food. I mean, who needs that many edamame? But we were having a blast, laughing and sharing stories. I even tried some sake. Let’s just say, I’m not a fan. It’s like drinking fire. But then, the night took a turn. We were walking back, and I saw this stray cat. It was the cutest thing ever! I’m talking big eyes, fluffy tail. I bent down to pet it, and it just looked at me like, “What do you want, human?” I was smitten. But then, it hissed at me! Like, rude! I was just trying to be nice! Finally, I headed home, exhausted but happy. Otsu is such a vibe. I mean, one minute you’re sipping coffee, the next you’re dodging juggling balls and petting angry cats. What a day! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, less coffee spills and more cat cuddles. Fingers crossed!
