Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an arborist in Rumoi is like a rollercoaster ride, but today? Today was somethin’ else. So, I roll outta bed, right? Sun’s barely up, and I’m already feelin’ the vibes. Rumoi’s got this chill morning air, ya know? I grab my coffee from that little joint on Kiyokawa Street. Best brew in town, no cap. I’m sippin’ my joe, thinkin’ about the trees I gotta check today. First stop, this old cherry blossom tree on Shimizu Street. Man, it’s a beauty! But it’s also kinda sick. I get there, and I’m like, “What the heck happened to you?” Some punk kids carved their names into the bark. Ugh! I mean, come on! Respect the trees, people! I’m tryin’ to save this thing, and here’s these kids makin’ it look like a graffiti wall. I’m all fired up, right? So, I start talkin’ to the tree. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but it helps. “You’ll be alright, buddy. We’ll fix you up.” I swear, I could hear it whisper back, “Thanks, dude.” Haha, I’m losing it, but whatever. Next, I head over to the Rumoi River. It’s a nice spot, but today? It’s packed with tourists. Like, chill out, folks! I’m tryin’ to work here! I’m dodging families and selfie sticks like I’m in some kinda obstacle course. I finally find a spot to check on this willow tree. It’s droopin’ a bit, but I’m like, “You got this, girl.” Then, outta nowhere, this old dude comes up to me. He’s like, “You know, that tree’s been here longer than you.” I’m like, “Yeah, I know, man. I’m just tryin’ to help.” He starts tellin’ me stories about Rumoi back in the day. Apparently, this place used to be a big fishing hub. I’m all ears, but I’m also thinkin’, “Dude, I got work to do!” After that, I’m cruisin’ down to the park near the Rumoi Station. It’s a nice spot, but the wind’s pickin’ up. I’m lookin’ at this big ol’ pine tree, and I’m like, “You better hold on tight, buddy.” Just then, BAM! A branch falls right next to me. I jump like I’m in a horror movie! Heart’s racin’. I’m like, “Okay, that’s it. I’m outta here!” But then, I see this little kid. He’s tryin’ to climb a tree. I can’t help but smile. Kids and trees, man. It’s pure magic. I go over and give him some tips. “Climb like a squirrel, not a sloth!” He giggles, and I’m like, “Yeah, that’s right!” Finally, I wrap up my day. I’m exhausted but happy. I stroll back down Kiyokawa Street, and the sunset is just killer. The sky’s all orange and pink, and I’m thinkin’, “Damn, Rumoi, you’re beautiful.” But then, I trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Classic! I’m sprawled out, and this lady walks by. She just looks at me and says, “You okay, tree hugger?” I laugh, “Yeah, just takin’ a break!” So, that’s my day. Full of ups and downs, just like the trees I love. Rumoi, you wild, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
