Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lifeguard in Saiki is like riding a rollercoaster that’s stuck on the loop-de-loop. So, I roll up to the beach, right? It’s a sunny day, perfect for chillin’ at the coast. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be a breeze.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I’m stationed at the Saiki Beach, which is like the best spot ever. The waves are decent, not too gnarly, but enough to keep things interesting. I’m sittin’ there, watchin’ the crowd, and it’s packed! Kids runnin’ around, parents tryin’ to keep up, and the smell of yakitori wafting through the air. I’m like, “Dude, I could go for some of that right now.” Then, outta nowhere, I see this kid, maybe 10 or so, just floppin’ around in the water like a fish outta water. I’m like, “Yo, kid! You good?” But he’s just laughin’ and splashing. I’m thinkin’, “This kid’s livin’ his best life.” But then, I notice he’s driftin’ further out. My heart drops. I’m like, “Oh no, not today!” So, I jump up, whistle blarin’, and sprint down the beach. I’m dodging beach towels and umbrellas like I’m in some kinda obstacle course. I finally reach him, and he’s just chillin’ like it’s a kiddie pool. I grab him, and he’s like, “That was awesome!” I’m like, “Dude, you almost became a snack for the sea!” After that, I’m feelin’ all pumped, like I just saved the world or somethin’. But then, I look over at the food stalls on Kōen-dōri, and my stomach growls. I’m like, “Man, I need a break.” But nope, duty calls. Next, this group of teenagers shows up. They’re blasting music, and I’m like, “Great, just what I need.” They start a beach volleyball game right in front of my station. I’m tryin’ to keep an eye on the water, but these kids are wild! They’re yelling, laughin’, and one of ‘em spikes the ball right at me. I barely dodge it. I’m like, “Seriously? You tryna take me out?” Then, outta nowhere, this lady starts yellin’. She’s on the shore, and her dog, a little Shiba Inu, is runnin’ straight for the water. I’m thinkin’, “Oh man, this is gonna be a mess.” The dog jumps in, and the lady’s freakin’ out. I’m like, “Chill, lady! He’s just swimmin’!” But she’s panicking like it’s the end of the world. I’m tryin’ to calm her down while keepin’ an eye on the waves. Finally, the dog swims back, and the lady scoops him up like he’s a baby. I’m like, “See? All good!” But she’s still shakin’ like a leaf. I can’t help but laugh a little. As the day goes on, I’m feelin’ the heat. The sun’s beatin’ down, and I’m sweatin’ like crazy. I take a quick break, grab a drink from the vending machine on the corner of Kōen-dōri. I’m chuggin’ it down when I see this old dude, Mr. Tanaka, who’s always chillin’ at the beach. He’s got this huge smile, and he’s like, “You’re doin’ a great job, young man!” I’m like, “Thanks, Mr. Tanaka! You’re the real MVP!” But then, just when I think it’s all chill, I hear a commotion. A couple of guys are arguing over a beach umbrella. I’m like, “Seriously? You guys are fightin’ over a piece of fabric?” I walk over, and they’re both red in the face. I’m like, “C’mon, fellas, let’s not turn this into a WWE match.” They finally back off, but not before I get a good laugh outta it. As the sun starts settin’, the sky turns this crazy orange. I’m sittin’ on my lifeguard chair, takin’ it all in. Saiki is beautiful, man. The waves, the people, the food. It’s a vibe. I’m exhausted, but it’s that good kinda tired. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of chaos, laughter, and a bit of drama. Just another day in Saiki,
