Man, today was a wild ride in Sanjo. Like, seriously, I can’t even. Woke up late, as usual. My alarm? Yeah, it totally ghosted me. So, I’m sprinting down the street, dodging bikes on Kōen-dōri. You know, the one with all the cute little shops? Yeah, that one. First stop? My fave coffee joint, Café de Lune. I’m craving that matcha latte like it’s the elixir of life. But guess what? They ran out of matcha! I mean, c’mon! How do you run out of matcha in Japan? So, I settle for a regular coffee. Not the same, but whatever. Then, I’m walking down Sanjo-dori, and I see this street performer. Dude’s playing the shamisen like a rockstar. I’m vibin’ hard, but then this group of tourists starts taking selfies right in front of him. Like, really? Can’t you see the guy’s trying to create art here? Ugh, people. After that, I head to the Sanjo Bridge. It’s beautiful, right? The river’s flowing, and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. I’m feeling all zen until I spot a pigeon. This little guy swoops down and steals my snack! I’m like, “Dude, that was my onigiri!” But he just looks at me like, “What’s your point?” So rude. Next, I decide to hit up the Sanjo Shopping Street. It’s packed, as always. I’m weaving through the crowd, trying to avoid bumping into anyone. But of course, I trip over my own feet. Classic me. I laugh it off, but inside, I’m like, “Why can’t I be graceful for once?” I pop into a store selling all these cool kimonos. I’m trying one on, and it’s gorgeous! But then I realize I can’t afford it. Like, why is everything so expensive? I mean, I get it, quality and all, but c’mon! I’m just a Resnik trying to make it in this city. Then, outta nowhere, it starts pouring. I’m talking full-on monsoon vibes. I dash into a nearby ramen shop. Best decision ever. I slurp down some tonkotsu ramen, and it’s like a warm hug in a bowl. I’m feeling good again. But then, I overhear this couple arguing. Like, really loudly. They’re going at it about who left the lights on. I’m just sitting there, trying to enjoy my ramen, and they’re making it awkward. I mean, can’t you take it outside? Finally, I decide to head home. I’m walking back down Kōen-dōri, and the sun’s setting. The sky’s all pink and orange, and it’s kinda magical. I’m feeling all the feels. But then, I step in a puddle. My shoes are soaked. Great. Just great. So, I get home, and I’m exhausted. But you know what? I wouldn’t trade today for anything. Sanjo’s got this crazy energy. It’s chaotic, it’s beautiful, and it’s totally me. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
