Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a lumberjack ain’t just about swingin’ axes and choppin’ wood. Nah, today was a wild ride in Sumoto, Japan. Like, who knew this little coastal town could throw so much at ya? So, I roll into Sumoto early, right? The sun’s just peekin’ over the hills, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” I park my truck near the Sumoto Castle ruins. Yeah, I know, I’m a lumberjack, but I got a soft spot for history. Those old stones are like, “Hey, we’ve seen some stuff.” First stop, I hit up this little café on Kōyōdō Street. Best coffee ever! I’m talkin’ about that rich, dark brew that makes ya feel alive. I order a cup, and the barista, this cute girl, gives me a smile. I’m like, “Dude, I could get used to this.” But then, BAM! My phone buzzes. It’s my boss. “Need you to chop down some trees by the beach.” Ugh, work calls. So, I grab my coffee and head to the beach. The waves are crashin’, and I’m feelin’ good. But then, I see it. A bunch of tourists takin’ selfies by the water. Like, come on! I’m tryin’ to work here! I’m all about nature, but these folks are blockin’ my vibe. I’m like, “Hey, can ya move a bit? I gotta chop some trees!” They look at me like I’m crazy. Whatever, I just wanna do my thing. I finally get to work, and let me tell ya, swingin’ that axe feels good. The sound of wood splittin’ is music to my ears. But then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches my sandwich right outta my hand! I’m standin’ there, mouth agape, like, “Did that just happen?” I mean, c’mon! A seagull? Really? I’m just tryin’ to eat my lunch, man! After that, I’m fumin’. I take a break and sit on the rocks by the beach. The view is amazin’. You can see Awaji Island in the distance, and the sunset is startin’ to paint the sky. I’m thinkin’, “Okay, maybe today ain’t so bad.” But then, I hear this loud noise. It’s a bunch of kids screamin’ and laughin’. They’re playin’ in the water, and I can’t help but smile. Kids have that magic, ya know? But then, I see one of ‘em trip and faceplant right into the sand. I laugh so hard, I almost drop my axe. The kid pops up, covered in sand, and starts cryin’. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just sand! You’ll be fine!” But he’s wailin’ like he just lost a limb. I guess I was a bit harsh, but c’mon! After a long day of choppin’ and dodgin’ seagulls, I head back to my truck. I’m exhausted but happy. I drive through the streets of Sumoto, takin’ in the sights. The little shops on Kōyōdō Street are all lit up, and the smell of takoyaki fills the air. I can’t resist. I stop and grab some. Best decision ever! As I’m munchin’ on my takoyaki, I think about how crazy today was. From the tourists to the seagull thief, it was a rollercoaster. But that’s life, right? Full of surprises. I drive home, feelin’ grateful for the chaos. Sumoto, you’ve been a trip! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
