Man, today was a wild ride in Tanba! Like, seriously, I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. So, I woke up, right? Sun shining, birds chirping, all that jazz. I’m a librarian, so my life is usually pretty chill. But not today. Nope. First off, I had to get to the library on Kōen-dōri. It’s a nice street, lined with cherry blossoms. But guess what? I missed the bus! Ugh! I was like, “C’mon, really?!” So, I had to sprint down the street. I mean, I’m not exactly Usain Bolt, ya know? I was huffin’ and puffin’ like a steam engine. Finally made it to the library, and it was packed! Like, what’s up with that? I thought everyone was supposed to be at work or school. But no, they were all there, probably looking for some peace and quiet. Not today, folks! I was already stressed, and then I spilled coffee all over the new books. I could’ve cried. I mean, who spills coffee on a book about Tanba’s history? Me, apparently. Then, outta nowhere, this kid runs in. He’s like, “I need a book on Tanba’s sake!” I’m like, “Dude, you’re in the right place!” But then he starts jumping around, and I’m thinking, “Chill, kid!” I helped him find a book, but he was so hyper, I thought he might explode. After that, I took a break outside. The air was fresh, and I could see the mountains in the distance. Tanba is surrounded by these beautiful hills. It’s like nature just wrapped its arms around the city. I was feeling good, ya know? But then, I saw a cat. A fluffy little thing just chillin’ on the sidewalk. I tried to pet it, but it ran away. Rude, right? So, I went back inside, and guess what? The fire alarm goes off! I’m like, “Seriously?!” Everyone starts panicking, and I’m just standing there, thinking, “This is not in my job description.” We all had to evacuate to the street. I was standing next to this old lady who was telling me about her life in Tanba. She was sweet, but I was like, “Lady, I just wanna go back inside!” Finally, we got the all-clear, and I rushed back in. But then, I found out that the library’s Wi-Fi was down. Ugh! I was ready to pull my hair out. How am I supposed to help people without the internet? It’s 2023, people! Later in the day, I had a moment of joy. A couple of regulars came in, and they brought me some homemade mochi. I mean, who does that? They said it was from a shop on Kōen-dōri. I was like, “You guys are the best!” I devoured that mochi like it was my last meal. As the day wrapped up, I was exhausted. I walked home along the river, and it was so peaceful. The sun was setting, casting this golden glow over everything. I thought about how Tanba is such a mix of chaos and calm. It’s got its quirks, like the old sake breweries and the beautiful temples. But man, what a day! I laughed, I cried (kinda), and I definitely learned that being a librarian in Tanba is never boring. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully, no fire alarms or coffee spills!
