Man, what a day! I’m a forester, right? So, I’m used to chillin’ in the woods, surrounded by trees and birds. But today? Oh boy, today was a whole different ball game. I found myself in Tomigusuku, and lemme tell ya, it was wild. First off, I roll into the city, and it’s like, whoa! So many people! I’m used to the quiet rustle of leaves, not the honking of cars on Route 331. I mean, c’mon, can’t a guy breathe without a car zooming by? I was just tryin’ to find my way to the Tomigusuku City Hall. Google Maps was like, “You’re here!” but I was like, “No, I’m not!” I ended up on Kume Island Road, which is pretty, but not where I needed to be. So, I finally get to the city hall, and it’s packed. I’m talkin’ like sardines in a can. I’m standing there, waiting, and this lady in front of me starts chatting about her pet iguana. I’m like, “Lady, I’m here for city stuff, not iguana gossip!” But she was super nice, so I just nodded and smiled. Then, outta nowhere, the fire alarm goes off! I’m thinkin’, “Great, just what I need!” Everyone starts panicking, and I’m just standing there like, “I’m a forester, I deal with wildfires, this is nothing!” But then I see people running, and I’m like, “Okay, maybe I should move too.” So, I bolt outta there, and it’s chaos outside. Once I’m out, I realize I’m on the wrong side of the street. I’m on Shuri Street, and I need to be on the other side. I’m sprinting, dodging people, and I feel like I’m in some action movie. I finally make it to the right side, and guess what? The alarm was a false alarm. Ugh! I’m so mad! But then, I see this food stall. It’s selling Okinawa soba, and I’m like, “Heck yeah!” I grab a bowl, and it’s the best thing ever. The broth is rich, the noodles are chewy, and I’m just slurping away. I forget all about the fire alarm. Food fixes everything, right? After that, I decide to check out the Tomigusuku Park. It’s beautiful, man! The cherry blossoms were in full bloom. I’m takin’ pics like a tourist. I even tried to climb a tree for a better shot. Spoiler alert: I’m not as spry as I used to be. I fell, but it was kinda funny. A couple of kids laughed, and I just waved like, “Yeah, I meant to do that!” Then, I head over to the Tomigusuku Market. It’s buzzing with life! Fresh fruits, veggies, and all sorts of local goodies. I’m in heaven. I grab some mangoes, and they’re so sweet, I could cry. But then, I see this guy trying to haggle over a pineapple. He’s like, “I’ll give you 200 yen!” and the vendor’s like, “Nah, man, it’s 500!” I’m just standing there, thinking, “Dude, just pay the 500 yen. It’s a pineapple!” As the sun starts to set, I’m walking down the streets, feeling all the feels. I’m happy, I’m tired, and I’m just grateful for the day. Tomigusuku is a mix of chaos and beauty. I love it! I mean, who knew a forester could have such a crazy day in the city? So, I hop on a bus back to my quiet forest, and I’m thinkin’ about all the wild stuff that happened. I can’t wait to tell my buddies about the fire alarm, the iguana lady, and the epic soba. Tomigusuku, you’ve been a trip! Can’t wait to come back!
