Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Tsurugi-asahimachi really knows how to throw a curveball. I woke up thinkin’ it’d be just another grind at the shop, ya know? But nah, the universe had other plans. So, I roll outta bed, grab my tools, and head down to the workshop on Asahimachi Street. It’s a chill spot, but today? Ugh. The moment I step in, I smell burnt metal. Like, seriously? Who’s messin’ with my machines? Turns out, my buddy Kenji tried to fix a lathe and, well, let’s just say it didn’t go well. I mean, c’mon, Kenji! You’re a great guy, but you’re no machinist! I’m fumin’ but also kinda amused. I mean, who doesn’t love a good disaster story? So, I dive in, fixin’ his mess. While I’m at it, I’m thinkin’ about the ramen shop down on Tsurugi Street. Man, I could go for some spicy tonkotsu right now. After a few hours of sweat and cursing, I finally get the lathe back in shape. Just as I’m about to take a breather, my phone buzzes. It’s my sister. She’s in a panic. “Dude, I lost my wallet!” she says. I’m like, “What? Again?” She’s always losin’ stuff. So, I tell her to chill, I’ll help her look for it. I dash outta the shop, headin’ towards the station. Tsurugi-asahimachi is wild, man. The streets are packed, people everywhere. I’m dodgin’ folks like I’m in a video game. I hit up the little park by the station, where we used to play as kids. I can’t believe how much it’s changed. There’s a new café now, all hipster with its fancy lattes. I roll my eyes. I find my sis at the park, lookin’ all frazzled. “You checked your bag?” I ask. She’s like, “Yeah, like a million times!” So, we start retracing her steps. We hit up the convenience store on Asahimachi Street. The clerk’s like, “Nope, haven’t seen it.” I’m thinkin’, “Great, just great.” Then, outta nowhere, I spot a glimmer on the ground. It’s her wallet! I pick it up, and she’s all like, “OMG, you’re a lifesaver!” I’m just glad I didn’t have to hear her whine about it for the next week. But wait, the day ain’t over yet. We decide to grab some grub at that ramen place I was thinkin’ about earlier. I order the spiciest thing on the menu. My mouth is on fire, but it’s so good! I’m slurpin’ noodles like a champ, and my sis is laughin’ at me. Then, as we’re leavin’, I bump into an old buddy from high school. He’s all decked out in a suit, lookin’ fancy. “What’s up, man?” I say. Turns out he’s a big shot now, workin’ in some corporate gig. I’m like, “Dude, you used to eat glue in class!” We both crack up. But then, he starts talkin’ about how he’s movin’ to Tokyo. I feel this weird mix of happiness and sadness. I mean, good for him, but Tsurugi-asahimachi is home, ya know? It’s where we grew up, where the streets have our stories. As the sun sets, I’m walkin’ back home, thinkin’ about the day. It was a rollercoaster, for sure. From fixin’ machines to findin’ lost wallets, to spicy ramen and old friends. Tsurugi-asahimachi, you crazy place, you never fail to surprise me. I plop down on my couch, exhausted but happy. Tomorrow’s another day, and who knows what it’ll bring? But for now, I’m just gonna chill and enjoy the chaos that is my life in this wild little city.
