Man, what a day in Utashinai! Seriously, I’m still buzzing from all the craziness. So, I wake up, right? Sun’s shining, birds chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I hit up the local konbini on Kiyokawa Street. You know, the one with the neon sign that flickers like it’s having a seizure? Yeah, that one. Grabbed some onigiri and a can of that weird green tea. I swear, it tastes like grass. But hey, it’s Japan, right? Gotta embrace the weirdness. So, I’m munching on my onigiri, walking down the street, and suddenly, BAM! A cat darts out from nowhere. I almost drop my food! Like, dude, chill! It’s not a race! But then I see it’s just a fluffy little thing, and I’m like, “Aww, you’re cute.” I name it Mr. Whiskers. Totally not original, but whatever. Then I head over to the Utashinai City Hall. Man, that place is a maze! I’m wandering around, trying to find the info desk. I ask this lady, and she just stares at me like I’m speaking Martian. I mean, come on! I’m just trying to figure out where to get my new profession license. It’s not rocket science! Finally, I find the desk. The guy there is super chill. He’s like, “You’re an Atlas of new professions? That’s cool!” I’m like, “Yeah, but it’s not as glamorous as it sounds.” He laughs, and I feel a bit better. But then he tells me I need to fill out a form. Ugh, forms. My arch-nemesis. After that, I decide to take a stroll around the park by the river. It’s called the Utashinai River Park, and it’s actually pretty nice. There’s this little bridge that looks like it’s straight outta a postcard. I’m standing there, taking a pic, when this old dude comes up to me. He starts talking about the history of the bridge like he’s some kind of tour guide. I’m nodding along, but inside I’m like, “Dude, I just wanted a nice pic.” But then he tells me about how the bridge survived a flood back in the day. I’m like, “Whoa, that’s kinda cool.” So, I’m actually listening now. Turns out, Utashinai has a rich history. Who knew? Next, I hit up this little ramen shop on Shimizu Street. The smell hits me like a freight train. I order the spicy miso ramen, and let me tell you, it’s life-changing. I’m slurping away, and this guy next to me starts chatting. He’s a local artist, and he’s got some wild ideas about combining traditional art with modern stuff. I’m like, “Dude, that’s genius!” But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. I’m sitting there in the dark, ramen halfway to my mouth, and I’m like, “Is this a horror movie?” Everyone’s laughing, but I’m low-key freaking out. The staff lights some candles, and it’s kinda cozy, but also, I just want my ramen! After the power comes back, I finish my meal and head out. I’m feeling good, right? But then I see a bunch of kids playing soccer on the street. They’re having a blast, but one of them kicks the ball right at me. I dodge it like a ninja, but then I trip over my own feet. Classic me. Everyone laughs, and I’m like, “Yeah, I meant to do that!” As the sun sets, I walk back to my place, reflecting on the day. Utashinai is wild, man. It’s got its quirks, its surprises, and a whole lotta heart. I’m exhausted but happy. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I’ll finally get that license. Or maybe I’ll just trip over another soccer ball. Who knows? But I’m ready for it!
