Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, Yonedacho-Sendo really knows how to throw a curveball. I woke up thinkin’ it’d be just another chill day, ya know? Just me, my tools, and some wood. But nah, the universe had other plans. First off, I hit the streets of Yonedacho-Sendo, and lemme tell ya, the morning rush was wild. People everywhere, like ants on a sugar trail. I’m walkin’ down Kōen-dōri, dodgin’ folks like I’m in some kinda video game. Seriously, I almost tripped over a lady with a massive bento box. Like, lady, you could feed a small village with that thing! So, I finally get to my job site on Shōwa Street. It’s a small café, real cozy vibe. The owner, Mr. Tanaka, is a good dude. He’s got this dream of makin’ the best coffee in town. But today? Today, he’s stressin’ hard. He’s like, “Yo, the espresso machine broke!” I’m like, “Dude, I’m a carpenter, not a barista!” But I can’t just leave him hangin’, right? So, I’m tryin’ to fix the machine while also workin’ on the shelves. Multitaskin’ like a boss! Then, outta nowhere, this pigeon swoops down and lands on my shoulder. I’m like, “What the heck, man?” It’s like the bird’s tryin’ to help or somethin’. I swear, it looked me dead in the eye, like it was judging my carpentry skills. I’m just tryin’ to focus, and this feathered dude’s makin’ it hard. I shoo it away, and it poops on my tool belt. Great. Just great. Thanks, pigeon. After that little fiasco, I finally get the shelves up. They’re lookin’ sharp, if I do say so myself. Mr. Tanaka’s all smiles, and I’m feelin’ like a rockstar. But then, bam! The power goes out. Just my luck, right? I’m standin’ there in the dark, thinkin’ about how I’m gonna finish this job. I can’t see a thing! So, I whip out my phone for some light. I’m tryin’ to work by the glow of my screen, and it’s like a horror movie scene. I’m hearin’ weird noises, and I’m jumpy as heck. I’m like, “Is that a ghost?!” Turns out, it’s just Mr. Tanaka’s cat, Momo, knockin’ over stuff. I laugh it off, but man, my heart was racin’. Finally, the power comes back on, and I’m back in business. I finish up the shelves, and they look awesome. Mr. Tanaka’s pumped, and I’m feelin’ like a champ. But then, I step outside, and it’s pouring rain. Like, buckets. I’m soaked in seconds. I’m standin’ there, drenched, thinkin’, “Why me?” But then, I see this little kid jumpin’ in puddles. He’s laughin’ his head off, and it hits me. Life’s too short to be mad about rain. So, I join him. We’re splashin’ around like a couple of goofballs. I forget all my worries. Yonedacho-Sendo, with its narrow streets and cozy cafés, feels like home. After a while, I head back to my place, still drippin’ wet. I grab a towel and a cold drink. I sit on my porch, watchin’ the rain. It’s peaceful, ya know? I think about the day—pigeons, power outages, and puddles. It was a rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Yonedacho-Sendo, you crazy little town, you sure know how to keep a carpenter on his toes!
