Man, lemme tell ya about my day in Yuki. Wow, just wow. I’m a barber, right? So, I’m used to the usual snips and chats. But today? Total rollercoaster. First off, I roll into the shop on Shimo-Kawaguchi Street. It’s a chill morning, sun’s out, birds are chirpin’. I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be easy-peasy.” Ha! Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. So, I’m settin’ up my station, and this dude walks in. I swear, he looked like he just got off a spaceship. Hair everywhere! Like, bro, did you lose a fight with a lawnmower? I’m tryin’ to keep it together, but inside, I’m laughin’ my ass off. I’m like, “Yo, what’s the plan?” He’s like, “Just make me look fresh.” Fresh? Dude, you look like a yeti. But I gotchu. I start snippin’, and he starts tellin’ me about his life. Apparently, he just moved to Yuki from Tokyo. I’m like, “Why’d you leave the big city?” He goes, “Too crowded, man.” I’m thinkin’, “You do realize Yuki’s not exactly a ghost town, right?” Anyway, while I’m workin’ on his hair, I can hear the hustle outside. Yuki’s streets are alive! People rushin’ by on Kōen-dōri, bikes zoomin’, and the smell of takoyaki waftin’ through the air. I’m droolin’ just thinkin’ about it. Then, outta nowhere, my buddy Kenji pops in. He’s got this wild idea to hit up the Yuki Castle after work. I’m like, “Dude, I’m busy!” But he’s persistent. “C’mon, man! It’s a beautiful day!” I’m torn. I love the castle, but I got clients. Back to my yeti friend. He’s finally lookin’ decent, and I’m feelin’ proud. But then, he drops a bomb. “I’m actually a hair model.” Wait, what? A hair model? I’m thinkin’, “Why didn’t you say so earlier?” I could’ve gone all out! After he leaves, I’m still buzzin’ from the surprise. Then, this lady walks in. She’s got a dog with her. A tiny, fluffy thing. I’m like, “Is this a dog salon or a barbershop?” But she’s cool, and the dog’s chillin’ on the chair. I’m snippin’ her hair, and the dog’s just watchin’ me like I’m some kinda magician. Suddenly, the power goes out. Just my luck, right? I’m in the dark, scissors in hand, and I hear this loud crash outside. I’m thinkin’, “What now?” Turns out, a delivery truck hit a pole on Yuki Street. Great. Just great. So, I’m sittin’ there, no lights, no music, just me and the dog. I start tellin’ the lady about the time I almost got lost in Yuki’s back alleys. She’s laughin’, and I’m feelin’ good again. Finally, the power comes back. I finish her up, and she’s lookin’ fab. She leaves, and I’m thinkin’ maybe today ain’t so bad after all. But then, Kenji texts me. “Dude, you gotta see this!” I’m like, “What now?” He sends me a pic of the Yuki Castle lit up at night. I’m so mad I missed it! I close up shop, and I’m walkin’ home, thinkin’ about the day. Yuki’s streets are still buzzin’. I pass by the izakayas on Kōen-dōri, and the smell of grilled fish hits me. I’m starvin’. I finally get home, plop on the couch, and just laugh. What a day! Yuki, you crazy! I love this city, even when it throws me curveballs. Can’t wait for tomorrow. Who knows what’ll happen next?
