Yo, lemme tell ya about my day in Beolgyo. Man, what a rollercoaster! I woke up, like, super early. The sun was barely up, and I was already chugging coffee like it was water. I had a group of tourists to wrangle, and trust me, they were a handful. First stop? The Beolgyo Fish Market. OMG, the smell hit me like a brick wall. Fish everywhere! I mean, I love seafood, but this was next level. I tried to explain the whole “sashimi” thing to this one dude, and he looked at me like I was speaking Martian. Like, c’mon man, it’s not rocket science! Then we strolled down the streets of Beolgyo. You got your Gwangju Road, which is always buzzing. Street vendors everywhere, selling tteokbokki and hotteok. I swear, I could live off that stuff. But then, outta nowhere, it started pouring. I mean, like, monsoon-level rain. I was soaked in seconds. My hair? A total disaster. I looked like a drowned rat. But hey, we ducked into a cute little café on Jeonggwan Road. Best decision ever! The barista was this chill dude who made the best matcha latte. I was like, “Dude, you’re a wizard!” He just laughed. I needed that pick-me-up after the rain fiasco. After the café, we hit up the Beolgyo Cultural Center. It was cool, but honestly, I was just trying to keep my group from wandering off. One lady was obsessed with taking selfies. Like, girl, we’re here for the culture, not your Instagram feed! But whatever, I get it. Then, we headed to the Beolgyo Bridge. The view? Stunning! I mean, the river glistening in the sun, boats cruising by. I felt all poetic for a sec. But then, this kid threw a rock into the water, and it splashed all over my shoes. Ugh! I was like, “Seriously, dude?!” By the time we got to the Beolgyo Hanok Village, I was exhausted. But the traditional houses were so pretty. I tried to explain the history, but my brain was fried. I was just rambling about how cool it was. I probably sounded like a total goofball. And then, the cherry on top? We found this hidden gem of a restaurant on a side street. The owner was this sweet old lady who made the best kimchi stew. I was in heaven! I could’ve eaten, like, three bowls. But I had to keep it together. Finally, as the day wrapped up, I was just so grateful. Beolgyo is wild, man. It’s got this vibe that’s hard to explain. The people, the food, the chaos—it’s all part of the charm. I was tired, soaked, and a bit cranky, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So yeah, that was my day. Beolgyo, you crazy, beautiful place. Can’t wait to do it all over again!
