Man, what a day! I swear, Puan (kr) never ceases to amaze me. Woke up at the crack of dawn, like always. The sun was barely peeking over the horizon, and I was already on my way to the docks. You know, the usual grind. But today? Oh boy, today was a whole different ball game. So, I’m rollin’ down Gwangju-ro, right? The salty breeze hits me, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be a good day.” Ha! Little did I know. I get to the pier, and it’s packed. Like, what’s up with that? Fishermen everywhere, casting lines like it’s a competition or somethin’. I’m just tryna catch my breakfast, not start a fish war. First cast, I’m feelin’ lucky. But then, bam! My line gets snagged on some old junk. Seriously? Who leaves a rusty anchor in the water? I’m yankin’ and pullin’, and I’m about to lose it. I’m shoutin’ at the water like it’s gonna apologize. “C’mon, Puan! Give me a break!” Finally, I get it loose. But guess what? No fish. Just my luck. I’m standin’ there, lookin’ like a fool, when I spot this old dude on the next boat. He’s catchin’ fish left and right. I’m like, “What’s your secret, man?” He just grins and says, “Patience, young grasshopper.” Ugh, whatever. So, I decide to take a break. I stroll down to the market on Jeongja-ro. Man, the smell of fresh seafood hits ya like a wave. I grab a quick bite at this little joint called “Fisherman’s Delight.” Best grilled mackerel I’ve ever had. I’m sittin’ there, chowing down, when I overhear this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. “You never listen!” “I do too!” I’m just tryin’ to enjoy my fish, people! After that, I head back to the docks, and guess what? The weather turns. Outta nowhere, dark clouds roll in. I’m thinkin’, “Great, just what I need.” But I’m stubborn, so I keep fishin’. Then, it starts pouring. I’m soaked, but I’m not givin’ up. I’m out there, casting my line like a madman. And then, it happens. I feel a tug. A big one! My heart’s racing. I’m reelin’ it in, and it’s a monster! I’m yellin’, “Yes! Finally!” But just as I’m about to pull it up, the line snaps. Just like that. I’m left standin’ there, empty-handed, lookin’ like a total loser. I’m fumin’. I could’ve sworn I heard the fish laugh at me. “You think you can catch me?” Yeah, real funny. I’m about to throw my rod into the water when I see a kid nearby. He’s watchin’ me, wide-eyed. I can’t let him see me lose it. So, I put on a brave face and say, “Hey, kid! You gotta keep tryin’, alright?” He nods, and I feel a bit better. Maybe it’s not all bad. I mean, Puan’s got its charm, right? The streets, the people, the food. Even the crazy weather. I start thinkin’ about how I love this city, even when it drives me nuts. As the rain eases up, I decide to call it a day. I’m walkin’ back, soaked to the bone, but I’m smilin’. I might not have caught anything, but I’ve got stories. And that’s what it’s all about, right? So, yeah, Puan (kr), you got me today. But I’ll be back. You can’t keep a fisherman down for long. Next time, I’m bringin’ my A-game. And maybe a raincoat.
