Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being an elevator operator in Yeonil is like riding a rollercoaster, but without the safety bar. So, I roll into work, right? It’s a sunny morning on Gyeongju-ro, and I’m thinkin’, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I get this lady, all decked out in her fancy clothes, right? She steps in, and I’m like, “Hey, where ya headed?” She’s all, “Top floor, please.” I hit the button, and boom! We’re off. But then, she starts talking about her cat. Like, who cares? I mean, I love cats, but c’mon! I’m just tryin’ to do my job here. Then, outta nowhere, the elevator stops. Just stops! I’m like, “Oh great, just what I need.” I can hear her heart racing. I’m tryin’ to stay calm, but inside, I’m like, “What the heck?!” I press the button like a madman. Finally, it starts again, and she bolts outta there like I’m some kinda monster. Next, I get this group of kids. They’re loud, man! Yellin’ and laughin’ like they own the place. They’re headed to the arcade on Jeongja-dong. I’m thinkin’, “Lucky kids.” I wish I could join ‘em. But nah, I’m stuck here, pushin’ buttons. Then, I get a call from my buddy, Joon. He’s like, “Dude, you won’t believe what happened!” I’m like, “I’m in an elevator, Joon! Spill it!” Turns out, he saw a dog wearing sunglasses on the street. I mean, who does that? A dog in shades? Only in Yeonil, right? After that, I had this old dude come in. He’s all grumpy, like he just bit into a lemon. He’s talkin’ about how the city’s gone downhill. I’m like, “C’mon, man! Yeonil’s got charm!” But he’s not havin’ it. He’s ranting about the traffic on Yeonil-ro. I get it, it’s a mess, but chill out, old man! Then, the highlight of my day. This couple gets in, all lovey-dovey. They’re whispering sweet nothings, and I’m just there, like a third wheel. They’re headed to the rooftop garden. I’m thinkin’, “Man, I wish I had that kinda romance.” But then, they start arguing! Like, what? One minute they’re all smiles, next minute, it’s World War III. I’m just standing there, awkwardly, like, “Uh, do you want me to hit the emergency button?” Finally, I get a break. I step outside for a sec, and wow, the view from the building is insane! You can see the mountains in the distance, and the hustle and bustle of Yeonil below. It’s a mix of old and new, ya know? The traditional markets on one side, and the shiny skyscrapers on the other. I love this city, even if it drives me nuts sometimes. But then, I head back in, and guess what? The elevator’s stuck again! I’m like, “Seriously?!” I can’t catch a break. I’m sweating bullets, and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna lose my mind. By the end of the day, I’m exhausted. I’m ready to crash. But as I’m leaving, I see that dog in sunglasses again! This time, it’s chillin’ with its owner at a café on the corner of Gyeongju-ro. I can’t help but laugh. Only in Yeonil, right? So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, just like the elevator I operate. I love this city, even when it drives me crazy. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
