Man, what a day! I swear, Ash-Shamiyah (kw) is wild. I woke up thinking it’d be just another boring install day. Nope! Not even close. First off, I hit the road on Al-Mahdiyah Street. Traffic was a mess. Like, come on! It’s 8 AM, people! Get it together! I’m just trying to get to my first gig at some fancy café on Al-Farouq Street. You know, the one with the neon lights and overpriced coffee? Yeah, that one. So, I finally get there, and guess what? The owner forgot I was coming. Classic! I’m standing there, tools in hand, looking like a lost puppy. I mean, c’mon, I’m not a mind reader! After a few minutes of awkwardness, he shows up, all flustered. “Sorry, man! I thought it was next week!” Ugh, great start, right? I set up my gear, and while I’m working, I hear this loud commotion outside. I peek out, and there’s a street performer doing some crazy dance. Like, dude, how do you even move like that? I’m over here sweating just trying to install a radio! But hey, it was kinda cool. Made me smile, ya know? Then, bam! My drill dies. Just like that. I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” I had to run to the nearest shop on Al-Mansour Street. It’s a tiny place, but they’ve got everything. I’m in there, and the guy behind the counter is chatting away about the latest football match. I’m like, “Dude, I need a drill, not a sports update!” But whatever, I grab a new one and head back. Back at the café, I finally get the radio set up. It’s blasting some old-school tunes, and the vibe is lit! People are vibing, sipping their overpriced lattes. I’m feeling like a rockstar. But then, the owner comes back, looking all serious. “Uh, can you turn it down? It’s too loud.” Seriously? I just made this place cool! After that, I’m off to my next job on Al-Jazeera Street. It’s a small shop, but they want a full sound system. I’m pumped! I get there, and the owner is this sweet old lady. She’s like, “Make it loud! I want to hear my soap operas!” I’m cracking up. So, I set everything up, and she’s dancing around, singing along to the radio. It’s hilarious! I’m thinking, “This is why I love my job.” But then, outta nowhere, the power goes out. Just my luck, right? I’m standing there in the dark, and she’s like, “Is this part of the show?” I can’t help but laugh. Finally, the power comes back, and I finish up. She’s so happy, she offers me some homemade baklava. Best. Day. Ever. I’m stuffed, and I’m thinking, “Why can’t every job be like this?” As I’m driving home, I can’t help but reflect on the day. Ash-Shamiyah is crazy, but it’s my kind of crazy. The streets, the people, the unexpected moments. It’s all part of the ride. I love it here, even when it drives me nuts. So yeah, that was my day. Just another wild ride in Ash-Shamiyah. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
