Man, what a day! I swear, Shortandy really knows how to throw a curveball. So, I’m a cooper, right? You know, the guy who makes barrels? Yeah, that’s me. And today? Pffft, it was a wild ride. I woke up late, as usual. Alarm? Nah, who needs that? I rolled outta bed, threw on my old jeans, and headed out. The sun was shining, but it was that weird kinda hot. You know, the kind that makes you feel sticky before you even step outside? Ugh. So, I’m walking down Abay Street, right? And I’m just minding my own business, thinking about how I need to get more wood for my barrels. I mean, I can’t be the only cooper in town, but I gotta keep my game strong. Suddenly, I hear this loud crash. Like, what the heck? I turn around, and there’s this dude on a bike, totally wiped out. I mean, he’s sprawled out like a starfish. I couldn’t help but laugh. Sorry, man, but that was hilarious! I helped him up, and he was all like, “Thanks, bro!” But then he starts ranting about how the potholes on Kabanbay Batyr Street are the worst. I mean, he’s not wrong. Those potholes could swallow a car whole. I told him, “Dude, you gotta watch where you’re going!” He just laughed and rode off. After that, I hit up the market on Kyzylorda Street. Man, the hustle and bustle there is insane! People shouting, vendors selling everything from fresh veggies to handmade crafts. I love it! But then, I see this old lady trying to haggle over a watermelon. Like, c’mon, lady, it’s a watermelon, not a gold bar! But she’s persistent, and I respect that. I grab some wood from a local supplier. The guy’s name is Askar, and he’s always got the best stuff. But today? He’s outta stock! I’m like, “Seriously, Askar? You had one job!” He just shrugs and says he’ll have more tomorrow. Great, just great. I need it today, not tomorrow! So, I’m walking back, feeling a bit defeated. But then I pass by the park near the river. The view is stunning! The Ili River is sparkling, and the trees are swaying. I sit down for a sec, just to breathe. And then, outta nowhere, this kid runs by with a kite. A freakin’ kite! I haven’t seen one of those in ages. It reminded me of my childhood. I used to fly kites with my buddies on the outskirts of town. Good times, man, good times. But then, my phone buzzes. It’s my buddy, asking if I wanna hit up a local pub later. I’m like, “Heck yeah!” I need a drink after this day. So, I finish up my walk, and I’m almost home when I see this stray dog. Poor thing looks so sad. I can’t just leave it, right? So, I pull out some leftover bread from my bag. The dog looks at me like I’m a hero. I mean, I’m no hero, but I’ll take the credit. Finally, I get home, and I’m exhausted. But I can’t stop thinking about all the craziness today. Shortandy is wild, man. It’s got its quirks, its charm, and its potholes. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Later, I hit up that pub. The vibe is chill, and I’m laughing with my buddies. We’re sharing stories, and I’m telling them about the bike crash and the watermelon lady. They’re cracking up, and I’m feeling good. So yeah, that was my day in Shortandy. Full of ups and downs, but that’s life, right? Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
