Man, what a day! I’m tellin’ ya, being a potter in Klaipeda is like riding a rollercoaster blindfolded. So, I woke up, right? Sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. First off, I hit the market on Turgaus gatvė. You know, the one with all the fresh fish and veggies? I’m there, just minding my own business, when I spot this old dude trying to haggle over a herring. Like, c’mon man, it’s a fish, not a diamond! I’m cracking up, but then he turns and gives me this look. I swear, it was like he was judging my life choices. I mean, I’m a potter, not a fishmonger! Anyway, I grab some fresh produce and head back to my studio on Maironio gatvė. I’m all pumped to throw some clay. But then, BAM! My wheel decides it’s had enough. Just stops. Like, really? I’m about to lose it. I’m yelling at it like it’s a stubborn child. “C’mon, you piece of junk!” So, I take a breather and decide to walk it off. I stroll down to the waterfront. The Curonian Lagoon is looking all pretty, and I’m like, “Okay, maybe today won’t be a total disaster.” I sit on a bench, watching the boats go by. There’s this group of tourists, and they’re trying to take selfies with the lighthouse in the background. But they keep photobombing each other. I’m dying laughing. Like, how hard is it to take a pic? Then, outta nowhere, this seagull swoops down and snatches a hot dog right outta some kid’s hand. The kid’s face was priceless! I mean, who knew seagulls had such skills? I’m thinking, “Man, that bird’s got game!” After that, I head back to my studio, and guess what? The wheel’s working again! I’m like, “Thank you, clay gods!” I start throwing pots like a madman. I’m in the zone, right? But then, I get this wild idea to try something new. I’m gonna make a giant vase. Like, bigger than my dreams! So, I’m working on this thing, and it’s looking good. I’m feeling like Michelangelo or something. But then, I get a little too ambitious. The vase starts wobbling. I’m sweating bullets, thinking, “Please don’t fall!” But, of course, it does. SPLAT! Clay everywhere. I’m covered in it. I look like a mud monster. I’m so mad, I could scream. But then I remember, “Hey, it’s just clay.” So, I start laughing. I mean, what else can you do? I clean up, and I’m like, “Alright, let’s try this again.” Later, I decide to hit up a café on the corner of Bažnyčių gatvė. I need a pick-me-up. I order a coffee and a piece of šakotis. If you haven’t had it, you’re missing out! It’s like a tree cake, and it’s amazing. I’m sitting there, enjoying my treat, when I overhear this couple arguing about where to go for dinner. I’m thinking, “Dude, just go to the old town! It’s got everything!” After my coffee, I wander around the old town. The colorful buildings are just stunning. I stop by the Klaipeda Castle and think about how much history is packed into this place. It’s wild! I’m feeling all inspired again. As the sun sets, I head back to my studio. I’m exhausted but happy. I might’ve had a crazy day, but that’s life, right? I’m a potter in Klaipeda, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. So, yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, laughter and clay disasters. But hey, that’s what makes it all worth it. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
