Man, what a day! Seriously, I’m still reeling from it. So, I wake up in my cozy little flat on Vilniaus gatvė, right? The sun’s shining, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Today’s gonna be chill.” Spoiler alert: it was NOT chill. First off, I head to the local café, you know, the one on Gedimino gatvė. They’ve got the best coffee in Salcininkai. I order my usual – a cappuccino with extra foam. I’m all set to enjoy my morning when BAM! This kid runs in, like, full speed, and knocks over my coffee. I’m talking a full-on tidal wave of caffeine. I’m like, “Dude, what’s your rush?” He just shrugs and bolts out. I mean, come on! So, I clean up my mess, and I’m already feeling a bit cranky. I decide to take a stroll down the beautiful Salcininkai park. It’s got these lovely paths, and the trees are all green and stuff. I’m trying to chill, but then I see this group of teenagers blasting music. Like, seriously? It’s 9 AM! I’m trying to meditate here, not join a rave. But then, outta nowhere, I spot this cute little dog. A fluffy golden retriever, just prancing around. My heart melts. I’m like, “Aww, look at you!” I kneel down to pet him, and he jumps on me, all excited. I forget about the music, the coffee, everything. Just me and this pup. Life’s good again, right? After my dog therapy session, I head over to the Salcininkai Cultural Center. They’re having this art exhibit, and I’m all about supporting local artists. I walk in, and it’s packed! I mean, who knew Salcininkai had such a vibrant art scene? I’m checking out these paintings, and one catches my eye. It’s this wild abstract piece that looks like a mix of a tornado and a pizza. I’m like, “What even is this?” Then, I overhear this couple arguing. Like, full-on shouting. I’m standing there, trying to appreciate art, and they’re just ruining the vibe. I’m thinking, “Guys, save it for later!” But then, the guy storms out, and the girl starts crying. Ugh, my psychologist instincts kick in. I can’t help it! I walk over and say, “Hey, you okay?” She looks at me like I’m a weirdo, but I just can’t help it. After that emotional rollercoaster, I decide to grab lunch at this little spot on Maironio gatvė. They’ve got the best cepelinai in town. I’m sitting there, enjoying my food, when I see this old man feeding pigeons. He’s got this whole routine, and it’s kinda adorable. I’m laughing to myself, thinking, “This dude’s living his best life.” But then, out of nowhere, a pigeon swoops down and steals a piece of his bread! I’m dying laughing, and he’s just staring at it like, “Did that just happen?” I mean, come on! Pigeons are savage in Salcininkai! By the time I finish lunch, I’m feeling a bit better. I decide to take a walk along the river. The Neris River is so pretty, especially in the afternoon light. I’m just strolling, lost in thought, when I bump into an old friend from high school. We start chatting, and it’s like no time has passed. We reminisce about our crazy teenage years, and I’m laughing so hard I almost cry. But then, just as I’m feeling all nostalgic and warm inside, I get a call from a client. They’re having a meltdown, and I’m like, “Really? Right now?” I try to be professional, but inside I’m like, “Can’t a psychologist catch a break?” So, I wrap up my day with a mix of emotions. Happy, angry, surprised – you name it. I head back home, exhausted but grateful for the chaos. Salcininkai, you’ve got my heart, even if you drive me a little nuts sometimes. Here’s to more wild days in this quirky little town!
