Man, today was a wild ride in Utena. Like, seriously, I woke up thinking it’d be just another chill day. Spoiler alert: it was NOT. So, I’m strolling down Vytauto street, right? Just vibing, listening to some tunes. The sun’s out, birds are chirping, and I’m like, “Life is good.” But then, BAM! I trip over a crack in the sidewalk. Classic Utena, am I right? I mean, who needs smooth streets when you can have a mini obstacle course? I get up, dust myself off, and keep walking. I pass by the Utena Culture Center. It’s this cool spot where they have art exhibits and stuff. I think, “Maybe I should check it out later.” But then I remember I’m broke. So, I keep moving. Next, I hit up the market on J. Basanavičiaus street. OMG, the smells! Fresh bread, fruits, and that one guy selling smoked fish. Like, who even buys that? But I’m hungry, so I grab a pretzel. It’s warm and salty, and I’m in heaven. But then, I see this kid drop his ice cream. My heart breaks. I mean, come on, it’s Utena! Can’t a kid enjoy a scoop without tragedy? After that, I decide to head to the park by the Utena Lake. It’s a beautiful spot, but today? It’s packed. Families, couples, and this one dude blasting techno like it’s a rave. I’m like, “Dude, chill! We’re not in Vilnius!” But whatever, I find a bench and sit down. Then, outta nowhere, this old lady sits next to me. She starts talking about her cat. I’m not even kidding. She goes on and on about Mr. Whiskers and how he caught a mouse. I’m trying to be polite, but inside I’m like, “Lady, I don’t care about your cat’s hunting skills.” But she’s sweet, so I nod and smile. Suddenly, it starts to rain. Like, outta nowhere! I scramble to grab my stuff, but my pretzel? Gone. I’m standing there, drenched, and I just laugh. Utena, you’ve got jokes! I run for cover under a tree, and guess who’s there? The techno dude! He’s still blasting his music, and I’m like, “Bro, it’s raining! Read the room!” Finally, the rain stops, and I’m soaked but kinda happy. I decide to head back home, but not before stopping by the Utena bus station. I’m waiting for my ride, and this guy next to me starts talking about politics. I’m like, “Dude, I just wanna go home.” But he’s passionate, so I listen. By the time I get home, I’m exhausted. I flop on my bed and think about the day. Utena is a trip, man. It’s quirky, it’s weird, but it’s home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Even with the cracked sidewalks and the random rain. So yeah, that was my day. Full of ups and downs, just like Utena itself. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
